Jeff’s King of the Court Pick for Tuesday, October 28: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Picking the chalkiest player on the board, how insightful!
I know, I know. However, sometimes rolling with the chalk is necessary. That was exactly the case last week when my pick, Luka Doncic, secured the first King of the Court crown of the 2025 NBA season. Now, Alperen Sengun did make quite the push thanks to a fantastic double overtime showing against the Thunder, but Doncic’s elite usage and production ultimately prevailed.
That’s exactly what I expect to be the case this Tuesday. There are a few solid PRA (points, rebounds and assists) machines on this slate in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and LaMelo Ball. Even Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Maxey could prove to be contenders, but there’s one name that stands out above the pack.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been an absolute monster through three outings, averaging a ridiculous 36 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists per game while seeing a 34.7% usage rate. Following Damian Lillard’s injury then departure this summer, it’s once again the full time Giannis show in Milwaukee on a nightly basis. He’s pouring in points at an unbelievably efficient clip considering his shot volume, hitting 68.3% of his field goals. Antetokounmpo just dropped 40, 14 and 9 against one of the NBA’s best defensive frontcourts in Cleveland. Giannis will be asked to do it all again on Tuesday against a tough Knicks squad, which should result in another massive performance for the former MVP.
