The two game slate last night certainly did not disappoint, did it? When’s the last time we’ve had so many games going to OT in the NBA’s opening week? Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is picking up right where he left off last season, spoiling Aaron Gordon’s big 50 burger with a 50 piece of his own as well as the W.
The Warriors and the Nuggets also had an OT thriller of their own, where we saw the Chef hit a huge half court three to tie the game to send it to OT. It’s only been three days of basketball, but so far it’s been absolute cinema. Twelve games tonight; let’s jump right into Pick6.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the action this evening. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Basketball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for the October 21st slate. We simply choose whether a player will record more or less of the set statistic. Here are my six favorite plays for tonight’s action.
Luka Doncic More Than 31.5 Points
We’ve really become accustomed to how great he is. Fresh off a 43 point, 12 rebound, and nine assist game, Doncic seems poised for another big night on a lethargic Lakers squad that doesn’t have LeBron James back yet. He’ll have the offensive burden on his shoulders once again, as has been the story his whole career, against a defense that’s comparable to Golden State’s, which he torched on Tuesday.
The Timberwolves do admittedly have a larger presence, though. Rudy Gobert remains one of the best rim protectors in the league but Doncic is just about matchup proof. If he takes enough shots, it’s just a matter of him having a normal shooting night to hit around this figure. Due to his offensive responsibilities tonight, I’m seeing him get more than 31.5.

Victor Wembanyama More Than 27.5 Points
This may just be a reactionary pick due to what we all witnessed on Tuesday, but how could you not? Wemby dropped highlight after highlight in the season opener against the Mavericks, showcasing his elite ability on both ends of the floor en route to a 41 point performance on 15/21 shooting while moving like a guard.
He’s truly a unicorn and this may be the year he finally breaks fantasy. He looks like one of the best players in the league already and should have no problem clearing 27.5 points tonight. The Pelicans were the rank 27 defense last season and Wemby will likely dismantle them at will.

Jalen Johnson More Than 31.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
Johnson’s had some injury issues throughout his young career but looked excellent against the Raptors. Unfortunately, his team did not. Johnson was on triple-double watch before halftime, and likely would’ve gotten there had the game not gotten unreachable. He finished the contest with 22 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists (37 PRA).
Many were high on Johnson this season and rightfully so. He’s a clear focal point of the Hawks’ offense and I wouldn’t be surprised if he emerges as their primary offensive option this season. He’ll go up against a middling Magic defense tonight, where he’ll look to keep things rolling with his ability to stuff the stat sheet in basically every category.
