The first game of Week 8 will take place in Los Angeles as the Vikings travel to the West Coast. With major injuries at the running back position for L.A., Kimani Vidal is set to make his third consecutive start in the backfield. Two weeks ago, Vidal ran wild against the Dolphins, but was brought back down to reality last week against the Colts.

As mentioned earlier, Vidal has had one elite game and one abysmal game as the starting back.
Let’s start with the good. In Week 6, he got the start against Miami, rushing 18 times for 124 yards while adding 14 yards and a TD in the receiving game.
Last week against the Colts, he rushed nine times for 20 yards and had 15 yards through the air.
The drop off was steep, and much of that can be attributed to the defenses he was playing against. The Dolphins are dead last in the NFL against the run, while Indianapolis is the sixth-best rush defense.
This week, Vidal will face a rush defense in the bottom half of the league, as the Vikings rank 18th while allowing 117.7 yards per game. It’s somewhere in the middle of the two rush defenses he’s played so far, and I expect his stats to follow that trend. Minnesota is elite against the pass, ranking 7th in the NFL. Expect Jim Harbaugh to dial up a large dosage of Vidal on Thursday, and he should be able to clear this total for the second time in three starts.
