Neither Andrew Heaney nor Alex Wood has started 2024 in ideal fashion. Both have an ERA north of 5.00 and a FIP above 4.50. But, Wood had a strong showing two outings ago and Heaney spun a gem in his most recent start.
Both have the opportunity to post a strong outing on Monday. That said, after checking the Matchup grades in the Consistency Sheets section of DraftKings Sportsbook’s Stats Hub, a Wood prop jumped out.

Wood’s strikeouts prop is set at 4.5 — a number he has hovered around but only gone over twice in seven starts. That’s enough for me to back him at +100 to the over because of what Texas brings to the table.
The Rangers are hitting .232 with a .645 OPS against left-handed pitching this season. More importantly, they’ve struck out 88 times in 336 plate appearances against left-handers. Over a quarter of the time they’re seeing a lefty, a punchout is a result. Everything is there for Wood to have a day.

Let’s move over to this game’s hitters. Here’s a look at how some of them have performed over their last five games against their hits line for Monday’s matchup via the Consistency Sheets in the DraftKings Sportsbook Stats Hub:

While most of the Rangers haven’t been at their best against left-handed pitching this season, Marcus Semien and Adolis Garcia have taken advantage of those opportunities. Garcia has better numbers against lefties (.343 average and .985 OPS) but is +110 to go over 1.5 total bases while Semien (.282 average and .762 OPS) is -110 to go over that mark. My lean on the Rangers’ side is Semien over Garcia, but both are strong options.
As for Oakland, Abraham Toro is the bat to back for a total bases play. He’s hitting .267 on the season, but .357 against left-handed pitching. It’s been a bit since he took a lefty deep, but he still has four other extra-base hits against them. At +135 to go over 1.5 total bases, he’s the A’s bat to roll with.
If you’re looking to do a Same Game Parlay of hits, Semien, Garcia and Toro make for a +195 play. Throw in Esteury Ruiz (.333 average vs. LHP) and it’s a +330 play (or swap him out for Garcia for the same +195 odds). For a more conservative hits Same Game Parlay, Semien and Toro provide +100 odds.
