Wide receiver Mike Evans suffered an apparent injury during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Week 7 Monday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions.
Per the Buccaneers, Evans won’t return to tonight’s contest due to a concussion and a shoulder injury.
During the second quarter, the veteran wide receiver attempted to make a catch downfield and landed hard on his knees after making contact with a defensive back. He stayed down on the field for several moments before being helped off the field with trainers and heading to the medical tent. He was carted off the sideline to the locker room shortly after, with the broadcast noting Evans was in “extreme pain.”
Evans, 32 years old, missed three games due to a hamstring issue prior to making his return in this Week 7 contest. He didn’t record a catch during Monday night’s game, but did see four targets from Baker Mayfield.
A four-time All-Pro selection, Evans has tallied 14 catches for 140 yards and one touchdown on 28 targets this season across his limited action. If he misses more time, his absence will certainly be felt by a Buccaneers squad with all four of its top wideouts dealing with various injuries. Rookie Emeka Egbuka is playing through a hamstring issue tonight, while Chris Godwin (fibula) and Jalen McMillan (neck) remain out.
