MLB Best Bets: Top Home Run Props for Friday 10/17/25

Updated:

By: Zach Thompson

Both Major League Baseball Championship Series continue this Friday night with the Blue Jays and Mariners starting the action at 6:08 p.m. ET in a pivotal Game 5 in Seattle, before the Dodgers look to close out their sweep of the Brewers in Game 4 of the NLCS, which begins at 8:38 p.m. ET. Both series have had fascinating storylines and plenty of power, so let’s chase down some good home run props on DraftKings Sportsbook to start the weekend with a bang. After taking a look at the matchups, game environment, odds and current form of the players available, my favorite home run props for tonight are for Julio Rodriguea, George Springer and Tommy Edman.

Even more so than during the regular season, all home run props are long shot bets by their very nature. In fact, with such a small pool and elite pitchers, they are even more difficult to hit in the postseason. Home run props are never “safe” picks, but a few key indicators can help point us in the right direction. While home run props can be a fun part of your betting strategy, they shouldn’t be heavily relied on since they’re so volatile. What makes home run props exciting is that the longer odds yield big returns when they do hit. I typically play home run props individually and in round robins at a small unit size, boosting the ceiling even higher if multiple home run props go green on a given night. This could be the last day of 2025 with multiple games on the scoreboard, so take advantage of the round robin style in case more than one of these picks hits.

Breaking down the numbers and matchups, here is why I like these home run props in Friday’s matchups.

Top Home Run Props on DraftKings Sportsbook

Julio Rodriguez 1+ Home Run (+458)

Rodriguez has homered twice in this series, going 4-for-13 with five RBI, four walks.and eight strikeouts. His most recent blast came in the first inning of Game 3:

When he hit that homer, it looked like the Mariners were headed to the World Series, but things have shifted dramatically since then. The Blue Jays rallied to win Game 3 and Game 4, setting up a huge Game 5.

Toronto will give the ball to Kevin Gausman on Friday, and Rodriguez is 5-for-19 in his career against Gausman with a home run. Gausman went 5 ⅔ innings in Game 1, allowing two runs on three hits and taking the loss.

Rodriguez has three homers in his nine games this postseason after smashing 32 long balls in a career-high 160 games this season. He typically brings more power against righties and hit .271 with a .342 wOBA in his reverse split this season. His home run props are a solid value at +458 at home against Gausman and the Jays, and I think he could add to his legend as the leader of this Mariners squad with another blast in Game 5.

George Springer 1+ Home Run (+405)

On the other side of the ALCS matchup, I’m a huge fan of Springer’s home run props at the top of the Jays’ order. I’ve had Springer in my picks throughout the postseason, and he continues to be one of the best power options in the Toronto lineup, yet he still comes at reasonable odds.

He started this series with a blast on the very first pitch he saw from Bryce Miller, and he added another homer when he was in my home run props picks on Wednesday:

I’m going back to the well with Springer against Miller again on Friday night. In his career, Springer is 2-for-9 against Miller with both hits leaving the yard. He’s also 2-for-5 with a double against Bryan Woo, who is expected to pitch out of the bullpen for Seattle.

In his eight games this postseason, Springer is 9-for-36 (.250) with three home runs and a .374 wOBA. Springer delivering in the postseason is nothing new, though, since he is a career .266 hitter in the playoffs with 22 homers in 75 games to go with a .272 ISO and a .369 wOBA.

In his bounce-back season in 2025 with 32 homers, Springer smashed 24 homers against righties like Miller and Woo, and he should continue to provide plenty of power potential from the leadoff spot in Game 5.

Tommy Edman 1+ Home Run (+690)

For the final pick in Friday’s home run props, I’m taking a long shot play in Tommy Edman of the Dodgers in a potential closeout game.

After joining the Dodgers midseason last year, he hit .328 with two homers in the Dodgers’ 16 postseason contests. He got a new contract and returned to Los Angeles, although he was limited to 97 games by injury. He hit 13 homers in those 97 contests with just a .225 batting average but a .226 ISO and .284 wOBA.

This year in the playoffs, Edman is 9-for-31 (.290) and has hit safely in all but one of his eight games. He has a pair of homers, as well, with his most recent long ball coming in Game 3 against the Phillies:

He came up with a huge hit in Thursday’s Game 3 win and has shown a tendency to come up big in the clutch.

He’s in a favorable matchup against lefty Jose Quintana, although the Brewers will likely go to their bullpen early and often in this potential elimination game. Edman is 3-for-16 against Quintana with a double and a triple in their past meetings. He hit seven of his 13 regular season homers against lefties and eight of those 13 came at home.

With splits in his favor and his postseason form looking so strong, I like taking a flier on him as a long shot pick with his home run props almost 7/1 on Friday night.
