UPDATE: Pat Murphy said after the game that Chourio was cramping and is receiving IV treatment.

In the top of the seventh inning of Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jackson Chourio injured his hamstring after fouling off a pitch.

Chourio injured the same hamstring during the regular season.

Prior to exiting, Chourio went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Blake Perkins was the substitute.

Perkins is 29 years old, 6′ 0″ and 187 pounds. During the regular season, Perkins racked up 171 plate appearances and contributed three home runs, 25 runs, 19 RBI and seven stolen bases. The walk rate was 8.8%, the strikeout rate was 27.5% and the ISO was a paltry .123. The slash was .226/.298/.348. Perkins is known more for his defense so if Chourio is out for an extended period of time, it’s a huge blow for the offense.

Game 4 of the National League Championship Series will be on Friday, October 17th. If a Game 5 is required, that game will be in Los Angeles on Saturday. If the Brewers can mount a comeback, the series will return to Milwaukee on Monday.
