This is a star-studded matchup fit for a Sunday Night Football showdown. The Detroit Lions are coming out firing again, off to a 4-1 record and leading the NFC North. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are struggling at 2-3 and need a win to get back on track. This high-stakes affair, flooded with superstar talent, comes with a lot of intriguing player props.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Chiefs are 2.5-point favorites with the Lions being +110 underdogs on the moneyline. Here are my favorite player props for Sunday’s Chiefs vs. Lions game.
Isiah Pacheco Under 28.5 Rushing Yards (-108)
It’s been a year to forget for Isiah Pacheco. The inevitable Kareem Hunt has been slowly stealing his RB1 spot on the depth chart, and his workload is suffering. Kansas City’s former starter has carried the ball exactly seven times in each of his last two games.
If he’s in line for a similar workload on Sunday night, that does not bode well for Pacheco against Detroit’s formidable front seven. They’ve allowed a stout 4.0 yards per carry this year without surrendering many big runs. Unless he finds a way to break one, I don’t see Pacheco making much of an impact in the box score.
Jahmyr Gibbs Over 66.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
It’s been a bit of a slow start for Jahmyr Gibbs by his lofty standards. Gibbs averaged 5.5 yards per carry across his first two seasons, living up to his electric potential. So far this season, that has dipped to just 4.6 yards per carry. It’s no cause for alarm this early into the season, but it is worth monitoring.
If there’s a time for him to break some big runs, it’s Sunday night. Kansas City is 26th in yards per carry against at 4.8. With Chris Jones quiet-quitting against the Jaguars on Monday night, they’re asking too much of their linebackers to keep running backs in check. Gibbs has handled at least 12 carries in each of his last five games this season, and if that workload holds true, he can push for 70+ yards.
