Colorado State Rams vs. Fresno State Bulldogs prediction, pick for CFB Week 7 on Friday 10/10/25

Fort Collins draws a chill and a reckoning under under Friday night twilight. Fresno State rolls in with momentum, a veteran calm, and a run game that leans on you snap after snap. Colorado State counters with bruised pride and a home crowd aching for a turn, hoping fresh legs and a steadier pocket can finally steady the season. Under the lights, it feels less like mid-October and more like a fork in the road. Below is my prediction for CFB Week 7’s game between the Colorado State Rams and the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Colorado State vs. Fresno State prediction, preview

Fresno State sits 5-1 and 2-0 in the Mountain West, scoring 30.7 points per game while allowing 19.5. Colorado State counters with 17.0 points per game and 27.4 allowed. That simple ledger hides leverage. Fresno State converts 45.7% on third down. Colorado State allows 43.9% on third down. The gap breathes on schedule downs, then bites inside the red zone, where the Rams have allowed a 100.0% scoring rate this season. Fans will feel those possessions stretch like wire.

E.J. Warner, the Fresno State quarterback, plays with tempo and touch. He completes 72.5% of his throws for 1,136 yards with seven touchdowns. His mistakes exist at volume—six interceptions—but the Bulldogs still hum because the run game stabilizes count. Fresno State averages 171.0 rushing yards per game at 4.9 yards per carry. Those numbers meet a Colorado State front that yields 191.4 rushing yards per game and 4.8 per carry. This is where the field tilts: Rayshon Luke brings 341 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, while Bryson Donelson adds 382 rushing yards and three scores. If the Rams pack the box, Warner’s 72.5% accuracy punishes off leverage with quick hitters to Richie Anderson and Josiah Freeman.

Colorado State must find ballast through Jalen Dupree and a passing game still knitting confidence. Jackson Brousseau completes 64.6% with 421 yards and two touchdowns, and he has protected the ball so far. The Rams average 346.4 total yards per game, splitting 193.8 passing and 152.6 rushing. That balance faces a Fresno State defense that allows 308.2 yards per game, with only 110.0 on the ground and 198.2 through the air. The Bulldogs take the ball, too. They’ve forced 11 turnovers, including nine interceptions, which ties them near the national top. Ryan Wilson’s center-field range flashes in moments that change breath and volume.

The trenches should set the soundtrack. Fresno State’s offensive line grades sturdier than the recent opponents that stonewalled the run; Nevada and Hawai‘i dragged the Bulldogs into tight games, yet Fresno still posted 152 rushing yards last week. Colorado State’s front has not produced the same disruption. The Rams own four sacks across five games and allowed 541 total yards last week. Fresno State’s 4.9 yards per rush collides with a defense that sits 122nd in rushing yards allowed per game. That’s not a stalemate; that’s a lever.

Fresno State vs. Colorado State pick, best bet

Counterarguments exist, and they echo through Canvas Stadium history. Fresno State has not won here since 2012, and weekday travel can fuzz an engine. Colorado State owns a physical runner in Dupree, who averages 5.4 yards per carry and just posted 103 yards at San Diego State. The Rams also get high-volume tackling from Owen Long, who has 68 total stops and a relentless motor. If Fresno State repeats its turnover spikes—eight giveaways across two recent games by one account—the door opens to short fields, sudden swings, and a charged fourth quarter.

The refutation studies footprint and efficiency. Fresno State allows 19.5 points per game; Colorado State scores 17.0. The Rams’ offense sits 126th in scoring and 104th in total yards per game. Fresno State’s defense allows 0.3 points per play, matching a top-tier rate. Colorado State’s offense produces 0.3 points per play and rarely lands explosives without help. The Rams also trail on drive mechanics: they convert modestly often on third down, then face a Bulldog defense with nine interceptions and a tackling profile that smothers yards after catch. If the game compresses and becomes a sequence of four- and five-yard decisions, Fresno State’s 45.7% third-down success erodes clock and hope.

Fresno State’s road splits still hover near this total, and Colorado State’s home games have leaned under. The Bulldogs average 30.7 points; the Rams average 17.0. That combined 47.7 barely nudges the number before matchup adjustments shave it back down. Fresno State’s run rate projects to claim time of possession, limit Colorado State snaps, and press that under edge.

Fresno State carries the heavier proof. The Bulldogs run for 171.0 per game and complete 72.5% when they choose to throw. They allow 19.5 points per game and own nine interceptions. Colorado State gives up 191.4 rushing yards per game, scores 17.0 per game, and defends third down at 43.9%. The arithmetic points one way.

Final score: Fresno State 27, Colorado State 17.

Best bet: Fresno State -6.5 (-110) at Colorado State
