Tyler Glasnow under 5.5 strikeouts (+111)
One thing is for certain: Dave Roberts wants this series to end tonight. Los Angeles’ manager knows that a do-or-die Game 5 in Philadelphia could spell trouble. Therefore, don’t be shocked if the Dodgers act aggressively when it comes to their bullpen. Granted, that’s only if Thursday’s starter, Tyler Glasnow, gets into trouble. The right-hander tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief in Game 1 on Saturday. However, he allowed four of eight batters faced to reach base during that appearance.
Over 90.1 innings this regular season, the former All-Star notched a 3.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 ratio. When healthy, there’s no denying that Glasnow is formidable. However, he’s had some trouble before in this spot. When the 32-year-old faced the Phillies on April 6th, he coughed up five earned runs in two innings. In fact, Glasnow has a career 7.56 ERA vs. Philadelphia. In a pivotal Game 4, the veteran might not get enough time on the mound to cash this over.
Kyle Schwarber under 1.5 total bases (-145)
We’re fading everyone tonight. As previously mentioned, Kyle Schwarber was the undisputed MVP of Game 3. However, he was an absolute liability this weekend, going 0-for-7 during the first two games of the series. Despite his reputation as a clutch hitter, the slugger has a .214 postseason batting average over four years in Philadelphia. Schwarber has still managed to hit homers at an exceptional rate, but he’s not the most reliable in big games.
Long story short, this feels like a good time to fade Philly’s all-or-nothing All-Star. Over 13 career at-bats vs. Glasnow, Schwarber has recorded just two hits (.154 batting average). In addition, the 32-year-old has produced an extra-base hit in just eight of his previous 20 matchups at Dodger Stadium. There’s definitely some risk in going against the hot hand. Still, I’d expect LA to pitch very carefully to Schwarber following Wednesday’s double-dinger performance. Someone else on Philadelphia’s roster will have to step up in Game 4 tonight.
