The first game of NFL Week 6 will take place at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night as the Giants face the Eagles.
Cam Skattebo and the Giants fell to 1-4 after an ugly loss to the Saints last Sunday, but will be looking to get back in the win column on Thursday Night Football for the first time in 10 years. Yes, you read that correctly. The G Men have not won a game under Thursday night lights in a decade.
Can their rookie running back propel them to break the curse, or will New York’s Thursday struggles continue?

The only explanation for Skattebo’s rushing yards total being this low is the return of fellow running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. Regardless of Tracy Jr. being back in the picture, this is still Skattebo’s backfield for the moment and he should see the bulk of the work once again.
The former ASU Sun Devil has gone over this total in each of his last four games, and I expect him to make it five in a row on Thursday. It’s a favorable matchup for this Giants rushing attack, as the Eagles rank 22nd against the run this season, allowing an average of 126.8 yards per game on the ground.
Skattebo should be able to hit this total even with the return of Tracy Jr., as evidenced by the rookie going over this number in two of the three games in which both backs played. The only exception was Week 1, where Skattebo only received two carries. The rookie has double-digit carries in the four games since, hitting the over on this number every time.
In total this season, he has rushed 63 times for 240 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 3.8 yards per carry. The numbers don’t jump off the page, but the rookie is a tough runner and brings an added dimension to this offense with his physicality and energy.
This total of 48.5 feels far too low and I expect Skattebo to go over it quite easily. In fact, his alternate total of 70+ rushing yards at +289 odds screams value to me. However, for now I will just keep it simple and just take his over 48.5 prop at -111 odds.
