Capitals vs. Bruins prop bets
David Pastrnak to Record 4+ Shots on Goal (-115)
While Boston’s overall depth is a big question mark entering the new season, one constant remains: David Pastrnak. Pastrnak loves shooting the puck, so much so that he ranked fifth in shots attempts per 60 and third in shots on goal per 60 last season. Washington allowed the 10th-fewest shots per game in 2024, but particularly struggled against opposing wingers, allowing the 10th-most in the category. Boston is bound to have a few hiccups, due to coaching changes and roster shuffling, but Pastrnak has cleared 4+ shots on goal in each of the past five season-openers. He has also found success against the Capitals, clearing this line in seven of his last 11 meetings against them.
Dylan Strome to Record 1+ Assist (-115)
It’s easy to pad assists when you share a line with Alex Ovechkin, and that’s exactly what Dylan Strome did in 2024 with a career-high 53 assists. Considering the Capitals are running it back with virtually the same roster and lines, I’d expect that Strome will pick up where he left off tonight against the Bruins on his home ice. Last season, he ranked 13th in the NHL in assists per 60 and third on the team among forwards in ice time per game. If the Capitals find powerplay opportunities, Strome will almost certainly be involved, having ranked ninth in the NHL in powerplay assists in 2024.
