Below you can find all my picks for College Football Week 7 with a quick handicap on the game, which will be updated throughout the week as bets are added. Our team at DK Network will have breakdowns on nearly every game on the board, so stayed locked in at the website for betting analysis on any college football game you may be interested in.
Alabama -3 (-110) 1-unit: I wrote up my full breakdown on Alabama at Missouri for DK Network that you can read here.
Iowa State ML (-140) 1-unit: Colorado was bet down as the home underdog in this spot, but I disagree with the move. Anytime that The Buffs have taken a step up in competition, it hasn’t gone well for them, and this is one of those situations. Iowa State is having a very solid season, but slipped up on the road last week to a good Cincinnati squad. That sets up a nice bounce-back here against a soft Colorado defense.
Iowa -3 (-110) 1-unit: The Hawkeyes were able to hang tough against Indiana two weeks ago, even with Mark Gronowski going down during the game. Iowa will have its quarterback in this game, while the Badgers continue to play musical chairs at the position. As you can tell by the total, points will be at a premium in this game. I trust Iowa’s defense to limit Wisconsin and win an ugly one.
USC Moneyline (-125) 2-units: I gave this one out on Monday’s DKN Daily Bets podcast, and would be fine laying out to -140 on the moneyline or -2.5 if you choose to lay the points. Michigan on the road is generally a fade for me this season. I went against the Wolverines in their first road stint at Oklahoma, which was a wire-to-wire winner, but passed on them at Nebraska. While USC doesn’t have the defense the Sooners do, the spot really sets up well for the Trojans, and I’m not sure the Wolverines can keep up offensively. The total on this game has been bet up early in the week, which suggests USC should set the pace in this game. The Trojans are off a bad loss two weeks ago in a game at Illinois that kicked off at 9am west coast time. Now they’ve had two weeks to chew on that loss and prepare for Michigan during a bye week. Michigan has not been all that impressive this season, and going on the road is where I want to fade the freshman quarterback and the Wolverines’ offense. USC won’t shut them down, but keeping up with the Trojans at home will be a task. USC scored 33 at Purdue and 32 at Illinois, but at home has dropped 73 and 59 against cupcakes, along with 45 in the only conference home game against Michigan State. I think the Trojans get into the 30’s again, and I’m not sure Michigan can get there.
Arizona +2.5 (-110) 2-units: Outside of getting stomped in a road trip to Iowa State, Arizona has been pretty impressive this season. The Wildcats have played the rest of their games at home, averaging 38 points in those four contests. That includes a gritty win over Kansas State on a Friday night game that sets up similar to this one. BYU is off to a strong start this season, but they haven’t really played a game they’re supposed to have lost. The Cougars toughest game yet was a night game at Colorado that they trailed 14-3 after the first quarter, but came back to win by three points (failed to cover). This will be by far BYU’s toughest game, and the Cougars just might be overrated off this 5-0 start. Arizona is the more tested team, and has a true home field advantage here with a Saturday night kick. Give me the home dog outright, but I’ll gladly take a couple of points.
Future: Big Ten Conference Championship Game Winner – Ohio State (+120) 2-units: I’m diving into a future here after the way the Big Ten has played out through the first month-plus of the season. Some considered Penn State to be the best team in the country preseason, and that’s clearly not the case. Oregon’s win at Happy Valley a couple of weeks ago is looking less impressive now, and the Ducks have a big game on deck, hosting Indiana on Saturday afternoon. I believe Ohio State has proven to be the best team in the country thus far, and the schedule sets up nicely for them the rest of the way. The Buckeyes always take care of Penn State at home, and host that matchup on November 1. The Michigan game always proves tricky, but there’s a real chance the Buckeyes are undefeated heading into that regular season finale. Ohio State is priced at -275 to reach the Big Ten Championship Game, and would certainly be a favorite against anyone in the conference in Indianapolis in December. The plus money here is going to disappear as the season goes on, so I’ll play it now and think we’ll have a very favorable number when this game is played in a couple of months.
