Brian Thomas Jr. has gone under this total in each of his first four games this season, and I’m backing that trend to continue on Monday.
Thomas Jr. and quarterback Trevor Lawrence have not been on the same page all season long, only connecting on 12 of the 32 targets that have gone the way of the second-year wideout.
They will now face one of the best passing defenses in the NFL so far this season, as the Chiefs rank seventh in opposing passing yards per game with 185.8.
The former LSU Tiger was so good in his rookie year that you feel like it’s only a matter of time before he breaks out this season, but I don’t think it will be on Monday. He is only averaging 41 yards per game so far this year, well below his 56.5 total. TE Brenton Strange leads the team in receiving despite seeing nine fewer targets.
The Jaguars are having a good year as a team at 3-1, but it hasn’t been because of the play of Thomas Jr. Until he shows that he has turned the corner, I will continue to fade Thomas Jr. in what has been an extremely disappointing season.
