Best James Cook prop bet for Bills vs. Patriots on NFL Week 5 on Sunday 10/5/25

Highmark Stadium under the lights feels like ritual now—Buffalo in prime time, the cold air thick with expectation. The crowd hums before kickoff, blue smoke hanging low as James Cook jogs into formation, the pulse of an offense built on rhythm and fury. Every time he touches the ball, the geometry bends; linebackers hesitate, safeties flatten, and the Bills’ line carves daylight through chaos. Cook’s emergence has transformed Buffalo’s identity—speed with patience, violence with control—and on Sunday night, the stage belongs to the league’s most balanced back. This is where the tempo starts, the legs set the tone, and Buffalo’s heartbeat takes over. There’s plenty of prop value in Cook’s market tonight.

To wit—below, check out one of my favorite James Cook props to consider from this Sunday Night tilt.

James Cook 90+ rushing yards (+165)

I’m all over James Cook’s rushing ladder tonight. Just as everyone was too low on Cook predraft for season-long/best ball fantasy, I still think the market hasn’t caught up to just how good he is, and how that pierces through every matchup.

Cook’s workload and efficiency profile both signal higher-end outcomes than his base prop implies. He ranks second in the NFL with 401 rushing yards, averages 5.3 yards per carry, and has cleared 100 yards in three straight games. His touch counts—22, 22, 25—translate into a median projection in the mid-80s even before explosive variance. That’s where plus-money alt lines gain traction: he’s living in that 80-to-110 window weekly.

Buffalo’s ground texture supports repeatability. The Bills average 163.5 rushing yards per game (first) and call runs on 50.6 % of snaps. Their offense sustains drives—6.1 yards per play and scores on 37 % of possessions—so Cook keeps re-entering positive scripts. Even if New England’s front looks daunting on paper (77.5 rush yards allowed per game, 3.3 YPC allowed), it hasn’t faced a run game with Buffalo’s multidimensional stress: Josh Allen’s zone-read gravity plus interior duo blocking that creates cutback seams.

The film-to-data fit matters. The Patriots sell out to stop early downs, then leak on perimeter zone where Cook thrives. Buffalo’s offensive line ranks top-five in adjusted line yards, and New England’s linebackers have yielded 23.9 % of runs for 10+ yards, worst in football. Cook’s contact balance and acceleration into the second level give him outs to chunk plays that tilt distribution tails upward—exactly the leverage you want on a +170 alt.

Game flow also amplifies the edge. Buffalo projects as a touchdown favorite at home and should control pace late; that means clock-draining carries rather than split backfield usage. A 20-plus-carry profile at 5.0+ YPC places his mean outcome around 100 yards. The alt clears nearly half the time in simulation-style models but pays out at an implied 37 %. That’s clear overlay value.

The structure, efficiency, and projected game script all align for another triple-digit night.
