It’s been a tricky season for the Jacksonville Jaguars at wide receiver. Breakout 2024 rookie Brian Thomas Jr. has regressed significantly, a development that came as a surprise to many. Dyami Brown, signed to fill a starting receiver role, is now injured. But Parker Washington, a former sixth-round pick out of Penn State, is breaking on to the scene. I’m here to tell you why Washington should be a fixture in your DFS lineups this Sunday.
Analysis
In Jacksonville’s Week 1 win over the Panthers, Washington garnered only 26% of the snaps on offense without drawing a target. That decreased in Week 2, taking only 24% of the snaps, but Washington turned five targets into five catches for 76 yards. That hyper-efficient performance led to Washington acting as the de-facto WR2 in Week 3, taking 71% of the snaps and playing in two-wide sets after Brown’s injury.
Though Washington only caught four passes for 34 yards, he was targeted a team-high 11 times. That kind of usage cannot be ignored.
In three-wide sets, Washington will start outside as Thomas’ opposite number while Travis Hunter operates from the slot. That positioning will matter significantly against this 49ers defense.
Rookie Upton Stout has seized the starting nickel corner job and done well. Renardo Green and Deommodore Lenoir, the outside corners, have had more mixed results. Washington will take his reps against those two, and in a game where the script favors the 49ers, the Jaguars will have to chuck the ball to stay alive. And that bodes well for Washington.
The verdict
Priced at only $3,700 in DraftKings DFS contests for this Sunday, Washington is a great value play that allows you to load up on surefire studs elsewhere. It may not be pretty in terms of efficiency, but he has the volume and game script on his side, along with some big-play potential.
