Evans suffered a hamstring injury late in this past Sunday’s win over the Jets, and the receiver is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
While Chris Godwin ($6,000, ankle) is nearing a return and could play this Sunday vs. the Eagles, the veteran is likely to be limited for his first few games, as he returns from a major injury. As a result, Egbuka ($6,800) should operate as the Buccaneers’ No.1 receiver with Evans sidelined and continue to flourish.
Egbuka has gotten off to a hot start this season, catching 14 of his 21 targets for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Through the first three weeks, Egbuka is the No.11 scoring receiver in fantasy football with 17 FPTS per game. While running a route on 89% of his team’s dropbacks, Egbuka is handling a 22.3% target share, including seven targets over 20 yards and two redzone targets.
Evans is leading Tampa Bay with a 28.7% target share and 27 targets, and with all this volume up for grabs, Egbuka very well could see 10+ targets this Sunday vs. the Eagles. Godwin is a strong target earner in his own right and once he gets back into form, Godwin has a chance to see more usage than Egbuka. But in the meantime, Egbuka should be extremely active as Baker Mayfield’s ($6,500) main weapon.
Philadelphia isn’t a great matchup with its defense giving up the 10th-fewest yards per pass (5.7), but Egbuka is still a locked in WR2 for season long leagues this week. For DFS, the rookie’s salary has hit a career-high $6,800, but he is still a viable option that has 20+ FPTS upside.
