Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles and unfortunately will miss the rest of the 2025 season.
The veteran suffered this devastating injury only 11 snaps into the Chargers’ Week 3 win over the Broncos. After Harris exited, rookie Omarion Hampton ($5,900) seized the opportunity, scoring a career-best 24.9 FPTS. The first-round pick out of North Carolina rushed 19 times for 70 yards and a touchdown and caught six of his seven targets for 59 yards.
While logging 79.1% of the snaps, Hampton handled 76% of the running back carries for Los Angeles, including two redzone carries. As a pass catcher, Hampton ran a route on 60% of his team’s dropbacks and saw a target on 19% of those routes.
Overall, Hampton hasn’t been efficient this season, ranking 37th in FPTS per snap among running backs (0.23), but he should be in line for 20+ touches this Sunday vs. the Giants with Harris now sidelined. This is a great spot for Hampton as New York is allowing the fifth-most yards per rush this season (5.2). To add more fuel to the fire, the Chargers are a six-point favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, so they could rely on their run game more than usual in this spot.
Combine the heavy expected volume and terrific matchup, and Hampton is a strong RB2 for season-long fantasy leagues this week and an outstanding value play for DraftKings DFS contests at only $5,900.
