What happened to Junior Caminero? Live injury updates for Rays vs. Blue Jays 9/17/25

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero exited Wednesday’s game early due to what the team called “mid-back tightness.”

The young All-Star was removed during the seventh inning against the Toronto Blue Jays with the score tied 1-1. At the time he exited, he was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Caminero has been one of few bright spots in the Rays’ 2025 campaign. The 22-year-old slashes .259/.302/.537 with 149 hits, 89 runs, 108 RBIs and 44 home runs in his 146 games. That homer total ranks him sixth among all Major-League batters, quite the feat for the budding star.

The Rays are just 73-78 on the year prior to the conclusion of Wednesday’s game.
