Jayden Daniels is dealing with a knee injury and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that it is uncertain if Daniels will play Sunday vs. the Raiders. Commanders’ HC Dan Quinn told the media Wednesday that Daniels won’t practice until Friday the earliest, so things are certainly trending in the wrong direction for the quarterback.
If Daniels sits Sunday, fantasy mangers that own the quarterback will need a replacement. Below, I’ll break down three of my favorite quarterback streaming options to consider for Week 3.
Top Waiver Wire QB Streams for Week 3
1. Daniel Jones vs. Titans
Daniel Jones is off to a tremendous start this season. In his first two games with the Colts, the team is 2-0 and Jones has posted 29.48 and 25.84 FPTS, respectively, with that latter finish notably coming against a stout Broncos defense. Jones ranks second among quarterbacks in FPTS and as a passer, he is leading the NFL in YPA (9.3) and he has thrown for two touchdowns and no interceptions.
However, what has made the veteran so valuable is his work on the ground. Jones has rushed 13 times — including eight red zone carries — for 28 yards and three touchdowns. His three rushing touchdowns are tied with Jalen Hurts for the most among quarterbacks and Jones’ eight red zone carries rank second at the position, trailing only Josh Allen.
Jones faces the Titans this Sunday, who have been average on defense this season as the 15th-highest graded unit on PFF. The Colts carry a solid 23.5-point implied team total on DraftKings Sportsbook for this matchup and Tennessee is giving up the third-most yards per rush in the NFL (5.5), so this is an appealing spot for Jones to run. The dual threat quarterback’s hot start to the season could continue in this spot and Jones is still only rostered in 60% of leagues on Yahoo.
2. Mac Jones vs. Cardinals
Mac Jones started in place of Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) last Sunday and Jones was rock solid with 22.76 FPTS in the 49ers’ 26-21 win over the Saints. Jones completed 66.7% of his passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns, resulting in 7.2 YPA. The former first-round pick has now scored at least 17 FPTS in three of the past five games he has started and he is averaging a solid 0.45 FPTS per drop back over the last two seasons.
Jones will start again this Sunday and he is facing a Cardinals’ defense that just gave up 328 passing yards and passing three touchdowns to Bryce Young in Week 2 (26.32 FPTS). San Francisco is at home and carries a 23.5-point implied team total, and Jones is a decent bet for 20+ FPTS in this spot.
On Yahoo, Jones is only rostered in 6% of leagues.
3. Russell Wilson vs. Chiefs
After posting only 11.12 FPTS in his Giants debut in Week 1 vs. the Commanders, Wilson erupted for 34.3 FPTS in last Sunday’s overtime thriller vs. the Cowboys. Through the first two weeks of the season, Wilson ranks seventh in YPA (7.9) and he has thrown three touchdowns and only one pick. Wilson has also been active as a rusher, rushing 11 times for 67 yards, and while he has yet to find the paydirt with his legs, Wilson has seen four red zone rushes, so a rushing touchdown is coming soon for the veteran.
Up next for Wilson is a matchup vs. the Chiefs, who are yielding the sixth-most yards per pass this season (7.1). This game carries a 46.5-point total and New York is a six-point underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook, so Wilson should be forced to throw it a ton, just like we saw last week, when he completed 30-of-41 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns vs. Dallas.
Another performance like that is unlikely, but Wilson throwing for 300+ yards and producing multiple touchdowns is very possible as the Giants try to keep up with the Chiefs. Currently, Wilson is only rostered in 16% of leagues on Yahoo.
