There are few feelings quite as crushing as missing a parlay by one pick. That’s where the Ghost Leg token comes in.
DraftKings Sportsbook offered a Ghost Leg promotion on Sunday, giving bettors a chance to turn a miss into a hit. Whoever used the token was able to effectively erase one leg that lost in an NFL Week 2 parlay, Same Game Parlay or SGPx that had three legs or more. The bet was then recalculated based only on the winning legs, resulting in big paydays for hundreds of thousands of customers. (See more here.)
In Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, the Ghost Leg wound up saving 160.5k parlays. On Sunday of Week 2, over 184k more parlays were saved by the promotion.
A handful of the bettors who benefited from the assist shared their near-misses-turned-hits on social media, and we’ve compiled some of the more interesting ones here.
Cowboys’ eruption didn’t go far enough
Sunday’s battle between the Cowboys and Giants made for one of the most entertaining contests in quite some time, but it was a stressful watch for plenty of bettors.
After New York turned the ball over on downs midway through the third quarter, the next nine drives to close out regulation featured six touchdowns and three field goals. And not just any field goals, either. Brandon Aubrey sent the game to overtime with a 64-yarder as time expired, then he secured a 40-37 win for the Cowboys by nailing another clutch kick in the extra period.
There was at least one DraftKings Sportsbook bettor was among those who probably weren’t satisfied seeing Dallas win by less than a touchdown. but the one who shared their parlay below had already hit the first five legs of his seven-leg parlay, having correctly picked a handful of favorites from the early slate to cover the spread. The Cowboys broke that up by not winning by more than six, which was made all the more painful by this bettor nailing Eagles -0.5 later in the day.
But because he activated the Ghost Leg token, he was still able to turn a $20.00 wager into a $979.01 payout, erasing the Cowboys’ chaos from his parlay.
Costly Broncos penalty mercifully wiped out
Another DraftKings Sportsbook bettor built an eight-leg parlay Sunday, picking five games in the early window and two from the late afternoon window, plus Sunday Night Football. He started off 5-for-5 by correctly picking the Bills, Rams, 49ers, Patriots and Cowboys moneylines, then he got the Cardinals over the Panthers. The Falcons beating the Vikings capped the parlay off with another hit, but there had been one notable gap along the way.
The Broncos seemingly locked up a victory – as this bettor predicted – when the Colts missed a potential game-winning field goal from 60 yards out. Denver got penalized for leverage, however, giving Indianapolis another shot from 15 yards closer. Spencer Shrader made the most of the second chance, booting it through the uprights to give the Colts an unlikely 29-28 win.
Had it not been for the Ghost Leg promo, this bettor would have seen his parlay blow up thanks to one controversial flag. Instead, the parlay’s adjusted +2575 odds turned his $30.00 into $802.66.
Derrick Henry’s disappearing act
The Ravens’ All-Pro running back exploded for 182 yards on 19 touches in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, finding the end zone twice. Even though his late fumble cost Baltimore the game, his explosive outing in the season-opener was more than promising.
Henry wasn’t anywhere near that efficient in Week 2, with his longest carry going for just eight yards. He finished the afternoon with 23 yards on 11 carries, not to mention his zero targets and zero touchdowns. It wasn’t as if the Ravens needed him to have a big day – they beat the Browns 41-17 anyways – but some people were relying on Henry to come through.
This DraftKings Sportsbook bettor had Henry Anytime TD Scorer as one of six legs in a parlay Sunday. Malik Nabers, Chuba Hubbard, Jalen Hurts, Jonathan Taylor and J.K. Dobbins all helped Mack out by notching touchdowns, all while Henry failed to do so.
This bettor opted into the Ghost Leg promo before the action started, building in exactly the kind of cushion he needed to secure a big-time payout. The $5.00 bet, with adjusted odds of +4789, turned into $244.46 by the end of the day.
