Mike Evans O 66.5 Receiving Yards (-112)
While Mike Evans only finished with 51 receiving yards in the season opener vs. the Falcons, there are many reasons to expect a much better performance from the star wideout tonight. First off, Evans’ usage remained strong in Week 1 with Chris Godwin (ankle) sidelined. Evans led the Buccaneers with eight targets and a 26.7% target share while running a route on 90% of his team’s dropbacks.
Before this outing, Evans had posted at least 68 receiving yards in eight straight games with Godwin inactive and even when including last week’s performance, Evans is averaging 90.2 receiving yards per game in the nine he has played without Godwin the last two seasons.
Plus, Evans’ modest Week 1 showing came vs. an Atlanta defense that has been very stingy against the pass this season, giving up the fourth-fewest yards per pass through its first two games (6.4). Evans is in a much better spot tonight vs. the Texans. In its Week 1 matchup vs. the Rams, Houston allowed Matthew Stafford to average a strong 7.7 yards per pass and Puka Nacua to catch 10 of his 11 targets for 130 yards.
Stafford completed 80% of his passes to players who lined up wide in that matchup, which is excellent news for Evans tonight, as 63.8% of his routes have come out wide over the last two seasons. Evans could explode in this spot and this 66.5-receiving yard line is too low for his upside.
