The MLB is back with a jam-packed Sunday slate on May 26. Every team is scheduled to be in action, with the games starting as early as 11:35 a.m. ET with the Toronto Blue Jays taking on the Detroit Tigers. This week’s edition of Sunday Night Baseball features the Chicago Cubs taking on the St. Louis Cardinals in an NL Central battle.
A full day of matchups presents an overwhelming amount of odds and lines to consider when trying to find an advantage. With that in mind, here are our best MLB player prop bets for Sunday, May 26 with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Teddy Ricketson’s 2024 MLB Player Prop record: 61-43-5
Thursday’s recap (1-2): Paul Skenes is human! He pitched six innings and allowed only one run, but struck out three falling well short of his strikeout line. Grayson Rodriguez picked up a win, but his pitch count got away from him as he walked five batters. He only lasted five innings, coming up short for his outs recorded line. The lone win of the day was Texas Rangers starting pitcher Andrew Heaney allowing five or more hits — he allowed nine.
MLB player prop bets: Sunday, May 26
Ranger Suarez, over 18.5 outs recorded (+150)
This is about the highest you will see the outs recorded line go, as Suarez will need to get through 6.1 innings to cash it. He’s earned it, though, as he has recorded at least 21 outs in two of his last three starts and five of his last seven. This includes a complete game shutout against the Colorado Rockies, which he faces again on Sunday. While the game being at Coors Field is slightly worrisome, Suarez has been on a tear this year and enters the game 9-0 with a 1.36 ERA, giving more upside to his hitting the over on this line.
Ronel Blanco, 5+ strikeouts (-215)
Blanco will be back on the mound after serving his suspension for getting caught with sticky stuff on his glove and ejected from the game. Ironically it happened against the Oakland Athletics, who he will be facing on Sunday. Before getting tosses, Blanco struck out four in three innings of work. Not counting that shortened appearance, he has at least five strikeouts in five consecutive starts. Obviously, there is some worry that he has been doctoring the ball all season, which led to his success, but I’m leaning toward the revenge game narrative and think he punches out at least five.
Joe Musgrove, over 4.5 hits allowed (-135)
Musgrove has struggled this season and enters Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees with a 3-4 record and a 6.14 ERA. The Yankees have been on fire recently, winning four straight. New York has out hit San Diego 19-7 in the two games of the series so far, and 17 have come against starters. Musgrove looked better in his last two starts which were both against the Cincinnati Reds, but has allowed at least five hits in each of his other seven starts this season.
