NFL Pick ‘Em Pools
These pools are really easy to use and allow you to have action for the entire NFL season with just one entry fee. For the season-long pools, each week you will go back to the pool and pick five games on the slate against the spread. Each correct selection is worth 1 point. You will also be given one “skip week” during the season, where you don’t need to make picks if you don’t have a good feel for that slate. In total, you will make 80 selections throughout the NFL regular season. That way, even if you have one bad week, you are still in contention in the contest. You can also play the weekly pools, where you pick every featured game against the spread.
Every week of the regular season, I will be giving out my five favorite selections, along with my leans for every other game on the slate.
Week 2 Picks
YTD Record: 3-2
Jets +7.5 vs. Bills — The Jets lost their season opener to the Steelers, but there were real signs of improvement from last year’s team. The pass rush was able to get home, Breece Hall looked like his old self and Justin Fields showed real competency at quarterback. Aaron Glenn is a great defensive coach and should be able to make adjustments based on what went wrong in Week 1. The Bills played an emotional thriller that they came back to win over the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. After such a massive game, there could be a bit of a letdown from Buffalo in this game. Home underdogs of 7 pts or more are 18-1-2 ATS in Weeks 1-9 since 2022. The Jets should be able to keep this one within a touchdown.
Chiefs +1.5 vs. Eagles — The rematch of Super Bowl 59 is one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season. The Chiefs are looking for revenge from their Super Bowl loss and to get their season back on track after losing their season opener against the Chargers. Patrick Mahomes is 21-4 SU after a loss in his career, rarely ever losing back-to-back games. Andy Reid is 27-16-1 (62.8%) ATS as an underdog as the Chiefs head coach. The Eagles got a win in their season opener, but didn’t look overly convincing. The Cowboys actually outgained the Eagles 307-302 in Week 1. Since 2020, the Chiefs are 41-10 (80.4%) SU at home. Getting the Chiefs as a home underdog coming off a loss is an incredibly rare opportunity that can’t be passed up.
Falcons +4.5 @ Vikings — This line is a bit too long due to the final scores of both of these teams’ Week 1 games, which don’t totally reflect the way they played. The Falcons were the much better team in Week 1, outgaining the Buccaneers 358-260. They held Baker Mayfield to just 167 passing yards and Bucky Irving to 37 rushing yards, but lost the game due to poor coaching decisions, failed fourth-down conversion attempts and a missed Younghoe Koo field goal to send the game to overtime. However, there are plenty of positives to take.
Michael Penix Jr. looked like the real deal at quarterback, Bijan Robinson is one of the most electric players in football and the defense looked much better than it did last season. The Vikings got the positive headlines because of J.J. McCarthy’s fourth-quarter heroics to come back and beat the Bears. However, they were outgained by the Bears in that game and looked dreadful through three quarters. Of course, wins and losses are all that matter, but over the course of a season, things should balance out when teams are playing better football on a down-to-down basis. The Falcons should keep it close at the very least, with a real chance to win the game.
Texans -1.5 vs. Buccaneers — While the Falcons should be due for positive regression after last week, the Buccaneers could be in for some negative regression. They struggled to move the ball against the Falcons, ranking 28th in the NFL in offensive success rate in Week 1. Meanwhile, Houston ranked 10th in defensive EPA/play last week and had the sixth-best defense in the NFL by that metric last season. Houston should keep the pressure on Baker Mayfield and limit the Tampa Bay offense. Tampa Bay also struggled on defense, ranking 20th in defensive success rate. Houston had a bad offensive game, but they have been a different team at home versus on the road with C.J. Stroud. Since 2023, Houston is 13-6 at home, but 9-11 on the road. Todd Bowles is 8-15-1 ATS as a head coach in primetime games. Stroud and the Texans should get this win at home on Monday night.
Jaguars +3.5 @ Bengals — The Jaguars looked impressive in their opening win. They ran the ball all over Carolina, ranking fourth in the NFL in offensive EPA/rush. The Bengals ranked 15th in defensive EPA/play and 18th in defensive EPA/rush against the Browns. The Jaguars should be able to run the ball against the Bengals and control the flow of the game. Even if it was against the Panthers, the Jaguars played great defense in Week 1, ranking fourth in the NFL in defensive EPA/play. The Bengals ranked 24th in offensive EPA/play and continued to show their trend of slow starts to a season. Joe Burrow is 3-8 ATS in Weeks 1 and 2 in his career, and that trend should continue in this game against the Jaguars.
