With Week 1 of the NFL season in the books, it’s time to reflect, pivot and move forward with your fantasy lineups. Tight end can be a tough position to figure out on a week-to-week basis if you didn’t draft one of the few elite options. If you’re one of those managers, I’ve got you covered. Let’s break down my top fantasy TE picks for Week 2!

Start ‘Em: Hunter Henry (Patriots) at Dolphins
The Patriots played uninspiring offensive football in their Week 1 defeat to Las Vegas. After a strong opening few drives, Drake Maye’s unit reverted to what we’ve seen the last few years out of New England. That’s not what fans in New England were expecting after the return of Josh McDaniels running the show along with the acquisition of multiple offensive upgrades.
All of that said, there were a few bright spots, Henry being one of them. The veteran looked like the ever-steady safety blanket Patriots fans have come to know and expect on a weekly basis, catching four of eight targets for 66 yards. He was also on the field for 93% of New England’s snaps. Henry’s consistent target share as one of Maye’s go-to guys and red zone capabilities make him a solid low-end TE1 option against a Dolphins defense that was just shredded by Daniel Jones.
Sit ‘Em: Jonnu Smith (Steelers) vs. Seahawks
Smith found the end zone in the Meadowlands last week, salvaging what would have otherwise been a complete fantasy dud. The 30-year-old caught five of six targets for a meager 15 total yards, only playing 66% of offensive snaps. When your team drops 44 points in a game (with most of the damage coming through the air) and you’re involved that infrequently outside of a touchdown, it’s not a good sign.
One year after racking up 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns, Smith has been demoted to the No. 2 tight end on his new squad behind Pat Freiermuth. If the young starter goes down, we’ll have something to talk about. For now, you don’t want to be playing the TD-or-bust game at tight end just two weeks into the season.

Start ‘Em: Tyler Warren (Colts) vs. Broncos
Despite being taken 14th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, there were concerns about Warren’s fantasy prospects heading into the year with Daniel Jones at quarterback.
Apparently, those worries were unnecessary, as Jones resembled Josh Allen in the season opener against Miami, recording 272 passing yards and a touchdown along with 26 yards and two scores on the ground. Warren served as one of Danny Dimes’ top two targets, racking up seven receptions for 76 yards in his NFL debut.
The Broncos are no joke defensively, and it’s not realistic to expect another masterclass of an outing by Jones under center. Still, Warren’s immediate impact suggests that he’ll hold a decent fantasy floor as one of the go-to guys until proven otherwise.
Sit ‘Em: Dalton Schultz (Texans) vs. Buccaneers
The good news: Schultz led the Texans in targets in their Week 1 matchup with the Rams.
The bad news: Leading the team in targets wasn’t necessarily an impressive feat, as he only saw five.
The unfortunate reality that is playing out in front of our very eyes is that C.J. Stroud just might not be that great at football. After an offseason to study tape on the young QB, defenses came back and dominated Houston’s offense in Year 2, and that appears to have carried over to 2025 thus far.
Tampa Bay boasts a steady secondary, giving reason to doubt the fantasy outlook for any Texan outside of Nico Collins. Schultz could find the end zone every few games, but without a touchdown his upside is pretty limited.
