UPDATE 4:31 PM E.T.: Some good, if unsubstantiated and altogether immaterial, news out of Las Vegas after their season-opening win against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Brock Bowers made himself available to reporters in the locker room, and is assuring everyone he’s fine.
That’s certainly fantastic news for the Raiders, Las Vegas fans, and Bowers fantasy owners to hear. Having said that, it’ll be important to keep updated with the Raiders’ medical updates and practice reports in the coming week regarding Bowers’ potential availability in Week 2.
With the Las Vegas Raiders under new HC Pete Carroll up by one score with 12:55 left to go in the fourth quarter at Gillette Stadium, Brock Bowers, Las Vegas’ star second-year tight end, was hit along the sideline, but then came up limping after no contact on an in-breaking route. He’s officially questionable to return already with a knee injury.
This is potentially devastating and definitely foreboding news for Raiders fans everywhere. Bowers was immediately ruled questionable as soon as he left the medical tent.
We all know it by now—a Questionable designation that quickly suggests we won’t get any updates from the Raiders until after the game. As of this writing, they’re still leading the Patriots in the fourth quarter, 20-10.
He had five receptions for 103 yards on the day, though many folks were alarmed with what appeared to be a reduced snap share in this new Pete Carroll offense. Bowers didn’t need opportunity to convert meaningful production, however. That’s just how good he is. And that’s something the Raiders are waiting with bated breath to hear that they won’t miss for an extended period of time.
