The US Open men’s singles Final takes place on Sunday. The top two players in the world, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, face off for the third consecutive major final.

Sinner Preview
Jannik Sinner has played some of the best tennis that Queens has ever seen at the 2025 US Open. He has crushed his opponents on his path to another Grand Slam Final. He dropped just two sets along the way, but his domination in all of the sets that he won was the more impressive part. It has been an incredible season for Jannik Sinner, winning two Grand Slam titles and making the final in the third. He had multiple match points and blew a 2-0 set lead at Roland-Garros; otherwise, he’d be going for the single-season Grand Slam in this match. Regardless, Sinner joins Rod Laver, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the only men in the Open Era to make all four Grand Slam Finals in the same season. For the third time out of those four finals, he will be facing Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz Preview
Carlos Alcaraz is determined to cap off an incredible US Open performance with a trophy. While Sinner has been the more dominant player on a point-by-point basis, Alcaraz has been the untouchable one over the course of a set. Alcaraz is yet to drop a set in this tournament, and if he were to topple Jannik Sinner in straight sets, he would become the first man to ever win the US Open without dropping a single set. Alcaraz showed tremendous fight to come back and beat Jannik Sinner at Roland-Garros in one of the best tennis matches ever played. However, he was dominated by Sinner at Wimbledon. Alcaraz needs to use his energy and athleticism to his advantage if he wants to defeat Sinner at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday.
Sinner vs. Alcaraz Pick
The two best players in the world meet for the third time this season in a Grand Slam Final. This generation of tennis has found its Federer vs. Nadal rivalry. These two players are far above the rest of the talent in the field at all of these Grand Slams. Their games also fit similarly to the two legends that preceded them. Alcaraz is not only a fellow Spaniard, but he has the flair, athleticism and large personality that Rafael Nadal had, while Sinner has the robotic level of consistency on his ground strokes that Roger Federer had. He never seems phased by the moment, never gets angry with himself and never gets too excited. These two contrasting styles make it so exciting to watch these two face each other.
In their careers, Alcaraz has won 9 of 14 matchups between the two, although that includes the Cincinnati Open Final just a few weeks ago in which Sinner had to retire due to illness. From the start of 2024 through the Roland-Garros Final, Alcaraz had beaten Sinner five straight times. Sinner was the more consistent player, but it seemed like Alcaraz was his kryptonite, especially after blowing that big lead at the French Open. However, Sinner asserted his dominance by beating Alcaraz in straight sets at the Wimbledon Final.
My best bet for this epic match is for Sinner to win by at least two sets. This plus-money bet can’t be passed up with the form that Sinner finds himself in. It’s Alcaraz who has yet to drop a set in this tournament, but watching Sinner’s individual points, it’s hard to understand how he could ever lose a match again. Sinner has always been the better hard surface player compared to Alcaraz. Sinner has three Grand Slam titles on hard surfaces, while Alcaraz just has one. This is Sinner’s chance to level Alcaraz with five career Grand Slam singles titles, and he should get it done in a convincing fashion on Sunday.
