George Pickens U 55.5 Receiving Yards (-111)
Pickens was traded to the Cowboys this offseason and while the wideout should have some big performances, his tenure with Dallas should start with a quiet showing vs. the Eagles. Philadelphia won last year’s Super Bowl and a huge part of the team’s success was the club’s incredible pass defense that gave up the fewest yards per pass in the NFL (5.6).
The Eagles yielded the third-fewest receiving yards to receivers and Philadelphia was stingy against deep passes, limiting opponents to the seventh-lowest completion percentage on targets over 20 yards (28.7%), which is bad news for a deep threat like Pickens. With the Steelers last season, 64% of Pickens’ receiving yards came on targets north of 20 yards.
With CeeDee Lamb mostly operating out of the slot, Pickens should continue to be primarily a deep threat with the Cowboys. Speaking of Lamb, he led Dallas with a huge 27.3% target share last season and Pickens’ target share likely will be modest playing alongside Lamb for the first time Thursday. All signs are pointing to Pickens starting his season with an underwhelming outing vs. the Eagles, so backing him for under 55.5 receiving yards makes a ton of sense.
