The Chargers are hosting the Chiefs on Friday for the second game of the 2025-26 NFL season. Below, I dive into two of my favorite first touchdown prop bets to consider for this AFC West matchup.
Chiefs at Chargers First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets
Ladd McConkey First Touchdown Scorer (+1100)
These odds are way too long for McConkey, who is coming off an outstanding rookie season. The receiver was the Chargers’ clear No. 1 pass catcher last season, leading the team with a 24.5% target share, including 12 targets over 20 yards and nine red-zone targets. McConkey finished sixth in YPPR (2.56) and he scored seven touchdowns in 16 games, notably with one of these touchdowns coming against the Chiefs and two of these touchdowns coming in the first quarter of contests.
It was much easier to throw against Kansas City last season than to run against the club, and as a result, the Chiefs allowed the sixth-most touchdowns to receivers (19). With Steve Spagnuolo continuing to be the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator this season, this may continue to be a friendly matchup for receivers in scoring territory and McConkey being the first player in this game to find the paydirt is very possible.
Kareem Hunt First Touchdown Scorer (+1700)
While Isiah Pacheco is the Chiefs’ top back, head coach Andy Reid has great trust in Hunt and the veteran certainly will continue to be involved this season, especially in the red zone.
Between the regular season and the playoffs, Hunt scored nine touchdowns in nine games last season and he led the Chiefs with 23 red-zone carries. One could say that Pacheco missed most of the season to argue against Hunt’s elite red-zone usage, but even in the five games Hunt and Pacheco played together last season, Kansas City still relied on Hunt in scoring territory with 12 red-zone carries, compared to just five for Pacheco.
Three of Hunt’s nine touchdowns last season came in the first quarter and the veteran is worth a flier for the first touchdown of Friday’s contest at this very long +1700 price.
