South Carolina is taking on Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon of Week 1. The game will take place at 3:00 P.M. EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. The Gamecocks are coming off their best season in over a decade with high hopes for 2025. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech is working to keep building their program in the right direction.
The Gamecocks are 7-point favorites in this neutral-site game on the DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total set at 51.5 points. This is a look at the best player prop bets to consider for this South Carolina-Virginia Tech non-conference matchup.
South Carolina vs. Virginia Tech Prop Bets
LaNorris Sellers 55+ Rushing Yards (-116)
LaNorris Sellers was one of the breakout stars in college football last season. He is one of the preseason Heisman favorites after such a special 2024 season, and his campaign starts in this non-conference game against Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks lost their star running back from last season, Rocket Sanders, but brought in a good replacement in Rahsul Faison. Sellers and Faison should run the read option effectively, and Sellers should rack up the rushing yards once again. He had at least 55 rushing yards in three of his first four games last season. While he’s healthy early in the season, Sellers should rely on his legs. Virginia Tech had to replace their top defensive linemen, Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Aeneas Peebles, this offseason, and South Carolina should win at the line of scrimmage against these new defensive linemen.
Kyron Drones 25+ Rushing Yards (-111)
Just like Sellers, Kyron Drones is a great runner of the football at the quarterback position. Drones has dealt with injuries throughout his career. However, during the 2023 season, when he was largely healthy, Drones averaged 73 rushing yards per game in his ten starts. For a stretch where Drones was healthy in the middle of last season, he ran for 40 or more rushing yards in four out of five games. South Carolina has one of the best pass rushers in the nation, Dylan Stewart, but outside of that, the Gamecocks had to replace a lot of NFL talent on the defensive line. Drones should be able to run the ball effectively and lean on his legs while he is healthy to start the season.
Nyck Harbor Anytime Touchdown (+130)
Nyck Harbor has the chance to emerge as the WR1 for South Carolina this season. Last season, tight end Joshua Simon was the team’s leading receiver and the Gamecocks were a run-heavy offense. However, in his sophomore season, LaNorris Sellers should be much more confident as a passer. Simon is gone, and Harbor is ready to take over as the go-to guy for Sellers. Harbor has Olympic sprinter-level speed and has spent the first two seasons of his college career running track and field during the football offseason, causing him to miss spring practice. However, Harbor has decided to fully commit to football and has spent the whole offseason with the football team. He said himself that he’s never been more prepared heading into a football season and should hit the ground running. He had touchdowns in two of South Carolina’s final three regular-season games last year, and with his size and speed, he should be a touchdown machine this season.
