MLB Picks and Player Props August 26, 2025
Minnesota Twins over 3.5 runs (-115) vs. Toronto Blue Jays
This is a sneaky spot for the Twins to generate some offense tonight against Chris Bassitt and the Blue Jays. The matchup may not stand out at first glance, but the Twins have been dominant against the sinker—Bassitt’s primary pitch. To be fair, Bassitt has struggled with it this season, as opposing hitters have produced a .452 wOBA and a 52% hard-hit rate against the offering.
Meanwhile, the Twins’ expected lineup has combined for a .430 wOBA and a .295 ISO against sinkers across 336 plate appearances this year. Those are absurd numbers for a pitch designed to induce ground balls. Given that, I expect Bassitt to run into trouble early, putting the Twins in a strong position to go over 3.5 runs tonight.
Riley Greene over 1.5 total bases (+100) vs. Athletics
Greene and the Tigers have a favorable matchup tonight against Osvaldo Bido. Bido began the season as a starter for the A’s but transitioned to a bulk reliever role after a stint in the minors. He’s expected to cover at least four innings before turning it over to the bullpen.
His two primary pitches—a slider and a four-seam fastball—play directly into Greene’s strengths. Greene has crushed sliders this season, posting a ridiculous .559 wOBA and .609 ISO, while also producing a .338 wOBA and .232 ISO against four-seamers. After stumbling out of the gate in the second half, Greene has caught fire recently, putting up a .410 wOBA and .333 ISO over the past two weeks.
Justin Velander under 16.5 outs recorded (-115) vs. Chicago Cubs
This feels like an inflated outs total for Justin Verlander tonight. While the Cubs haven’t been great at the plate in the second half, they showed signs of life over the weekend against the Angels, scoring 19 runs across three games.
Verlander has gone at least 5.2 innings in only nine of his 22 starts this season—and just twice since the beginning of July. When he faced the Cubs earlier this year, he lasted five innings, allowing three runs on five hits. Given those trends, I see value on the under for his outs total tonight.
