MLB Best Bets: Top MLB predictions and picks for Sunday 8/24/25

I’ll be pumping out picks and predictions for all the afternoon and evening games tonight. ased on my preliminary research, here are my three favorite baseball bets for tonight’s slate, separate from my game predictions and previews.

Juan Soto 2+ total bases (+105)

I want Juan Soto over 1.5 total bases because his 2025 quality-of-contact profile is a sledgehammer, and Atlanta’s probable righty is the perfect anvil. Soto’s xwOBA sits in elite air (.442), fueled by a thunderous hard-hit rate (56.1%) and a vicious barrel rate (18.5%), which turns even “singles” contact into extra-base trajectories. His realized wOBA (.377) trails the expected mark, which signals positive base-total regression against a sinker/change profile that lives in the zone. DraftKings’ own Sunday board revolves around Mets-Braves matchups today, and the editorial desk is openly targeting Atlanta’s Bryce Elder, who brings a bloated 2025 ERA into the day (6.29), a profile that bleeds base knocks when he falls behind. Soto’s approach hunts those counts and punishes spin left over the plate, which converts to doubles in both alleys and line-drive lasers that skip walls. With the Mets in attack mode and DraftKings highlighting this exact game window, I’m riding the best bat in the matchup to stack bags.

Bobby Witt 2+ total bases (-110)

Bobby Witt Jr. over 1.5 total bases prints value because he’s pairing bat-to-ball precision with lift. The 2025 line already shows consistent thump (.294 average, 147 hits, 18 homers through 127 games), and his swing decisions have tightened, letting him ambush early heaters and elevate breakers that leak. Kansas City’s board placement today runs through Detroit’s Jack Flaherty, and DraftKings’ own write-up calls out that exact matchup context, which matters because Flaherty’s swing-and-miss plays, but contact against him this season still turns loud when he’s behind in counts. Witt’s running game pressures the zone and forces strike-one, which lights up his early-count slug. The combination of straight-line bat speed and pull-side carry turns doubles into the default outcome when he gets something middle-in. With the Royals’ heart doing damage and DraftKings pointing squarely at this Tigers tilt, I’m not splitting hairs.

Elly De La Cruz to stole a base (+280)

Elly De La Cruz to record a stolen base is a pace bet and a pressure bet, and I’m unapologetically aggressive here. He sits among the league’s top thieves in 2025 with a fat total already on the ledger (31 steals), and his first-step violence turns even modest leads into panic for batteries that struggle to hold timing. Today’s board shows Reds-Diamondbacks on the dance card, and that opponent context matters because Arizona’s game flow against Cincinnati has invited volume on the bases. Elly doesn’t beg for the green light; he takes it on reads and jumps, and one clean reach is usually enough. With his legs dictating tempo and the Reds’ lineup creating lanes, you’re betting on a single, a walk, or a hit-by-pitch to instantly become a track meet. Elly’s steal prop belongs in any aggressive card because his 2025 attempt volume and conversion both shine. I’m laying the marker: De La Cruz to record a steal belongs at the top of today’s prop sheet.
