Najee Harris is “on track” to “hopefully” play in Week 1 of the regular season, Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz said.
This is a major update as Harris had sustained an eye injury during a fireworks incident on July 4. He did not practice in training camp and remained on the Non-Football Injury list.
Harris has been sidelined throughout the preseason and has only recently been increasing his training regimen.
The Chargers begin their season in Sao Paulo, Brazil against the Chiefs on Friday, Sep. 5. Harris could make his Chargers debut then after signing with the organization during free agency. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
