As much as one of the more impressive, young offensive minds is now running the show in Chicago, how Caleb Williams is going to evolve in his sophomore campaign is still very unclear. But, if there’s anyone who should be able to elevate him, it is former Lions Offensive Coordinator turned Bears Head Coach, Ben Johnson.
Let’s take a look at how DraftKings Sportsbook bettors are approaching the Bears ahead of what should be an intriguing year in Chicago.
Bears Win Total
Just like last season, the Bears have an 8.5 win total going into the regular season. At this stage, the over is the popular play, having seen 62% of the bets in this win total market. Those plays have accounted for 63% of the handle โ a public play, but not a sharp lean toward the other direction.
Where there is a sharp lean for Bears bettors is the Regular Season Division Wins market. With the line set at 2.5, the under has seen 44% of the handle on 22% of the bets.
Caleb Williams Futures Splits
Caleb Williams has three season-long player props available on DraftKings Sportsbook. Two have significant, sharp leans:
- Williams’ Regular Season Passing Yards prop is set at 3550.5. The over has seen 91% of the handle on 76% of the bets.
- His Regular Season Passing TDs prop is set at 23.5. The over has seen 86% of the handle on 84% of the bets.
- His Regular Season Rushing Yards prop is set at 425.5. The under has seen 66% of the handle on four percent of the bets.
You read that last one right: Six percent of the bets have accounted for two-thirds of the handle on one side of this prop. As good as the sharp lean is to the over on his Regular Season Passing Yards, the splits for the under on Williams’ Regular Season Rushing Yards are remarkable.
Additionally, in the “Most Regular Season Passing Yards” market under the STATS LEADERS category, Williams ranks fifth in handle. Slide over to “Most Regular Season Interceptions Thrown,” and he ranks third in handle.
Other Notable Player Prop Splits
The over on Rome Odunze’s Regular Season Receiving Yards prop has received consistent action, taking in 96% of the bets made on the play. Those plays have accounted for 98% of the handle, making the over on 800.5 playable for the sophomore received.
The same cannot be said of DJ Moore’s props:
- Moore’s Regular Season Receiving Yards prop is set at 975.5. The under has seen 61% of the handle on 35% of the bets.
- His Regular Season Receiving TDs prop is set at 6.5. The under has seen 66% of the handle on 21% of the bets.
Big-time sharp leans to the under on both options. Not what Bears fans are looking for.
But looking at the Coach of the Year discussion, Ben Johnson has the second-shortest odds at +700. Chicago’s head coach is also getting decent action in the market. He’s seen the second-greatest percentage of handle (14%) and bets (13%) of all options in the market.
