What happened to Michael Soroka? Live injury updates for Reds vs. Cubs 8/4/25

UPDATE: According to Cubs manager Craig Counsell, SP Michael Soroka will be placed on the IL.

After pitching just two innings in Monday’s game vs. the Reds, SP Michael Soroka exited the game and was replaced by Ben Brown. Per the team, Soroka is dealing with right shoulder discomfort.

It’s no surprise that he left early with an injury as he struggled for the two innings he did pitch, particularly with his velocity. He finished with three strikeouts, a walk and one hit allowed in those 31 pitches.

The Cubs acquired Soroka at the deadline and will hope that he can get healthy for the upcoming stretch run. Chicago is currently in a Wild Card spot, but they’re only two games behind Milwaukee, so every game is crucial until the end of the season. Hopefully for Cubs fans, Soroka can get healthy and back in the rotation as soon as possible.
