New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers prediction, pick for Monday 8/4/25

The Marlins just made the Yankees look like the Dodgers. Which is a nutters thing to say in 2025 with those bloated payrolls. But Miami absolutely walloped the post-trade-deadline Yankees in the Bronx this weekend. While the Rangers—whose Nathan Eovaldi was just awarded Pitcher of the Month for July, continue to hold firm in the AL West race. Below, I’ve got my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Monday night baseball game between the Yankees and the Rangers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Yankees vs. Rangers prediction, preview

It’s a bounce-back spot for both teams. The Yankees (60-52) just got swept in Miami. They were outscored 22-14 over three games, while the Rangers (58-55) have dropped five of their last seven, after an 8-1 surge to open the second half. New York sends ace lefty Max Fried (12-4, 2.62 ERA) to the mound, and his ability to pitch deep can alleviate the Yankees’ recent bullpen woes. Texas counters with veteran Patrick Corbin (6-7, 3.78 ERA) in Arlington, where the Rangers have won 10 of their last 11 home games.

Fried’s presence is a big edge. Texas hasn’t fared well against left-handed pitching, and Fried can neutralize that weakness. Corbin, meanwhile, may be pitching slightly above his pay grade lately. Offensively, New York still packs a punch; Aaron Judge is batting .342 with 37 homers this season, so the Yankees can capitalize if Corbin falters. Fried has notched a win in four of his last five night starts, consistently putting New York in position to win.

Rangers vs. Yankees pick, best bet

The Bronx Bombers have dominated winning AL West teams, taking six straight meetings against such opponents. Conversely, the Rangers are 0-6 in their last six games against AL East teams above .500. While the Yankees are just 1-5 in their last six road games, Fried’s presence tilts the odds in their favor. With a superior starter on the hill and urgency to end their skid, this is a prime spot for New York to snap its funk.

Best bet: Yankees (-145) vs. Rangers
