Christian Kirk had an injury-ridden season in 2024, fracturing his collarbone after only playing in eight games. Kirk recorded 27 catches, 379 yards and a touchdown before the injury. He was traded to the Texans in March for only a 2026 seventh-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Kirk and rookie WR Jayden Higgins will enter the season fighting for the WR2 position on this offense. Nico Collins should continue to command the majority of the targets as the WR1, but with the uncertainty around when Tank Dell will return, that could spring Kirk into the WR2 role. Dell suffered a serious knee injury in December of 2024 and his return to play is still unknown. When he returns, he will likely emerge as the second option for C.J. Stroud. But until then, Kirk or Higgins will fill the void as WR2, which could be great for Kirk’s fantasy value. Either way, he will be a top-three receiving option in a potent passing attack.
This is an offense that loves to throw the football. The Texans ranked in a tie for the 11th most pass attempts per game last season with 33.2. Kirk didn’t have his best season in 2024, even when healthy, only averaging 8.9 FPTS per game which was tied for 60th best among wideouts in DraftKings fantasy scoring.
At only 28 years old, Kirk can still get back to who he was in 2022 and 2023. Three seasons ago, he finished with 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2023, he recorded 787 yards and three scores. Kirk was WR12 on DraftKings in 2022 and WR45 in 2023. He’s a true veteran, already accumulating 5,176 career receiving yards and 29 receiving touchdowns. Going into this eighth NFL season, Kirk will provide fantasy owners a reliable receiver who will produce solid numbers if he can stay healthy.
The former Jaguar should be able to get back to himself with a full bill of health. He won’t see the majority of targets, but still should be a big part of what the Texans do through the air. I think his fantasy football stock will increase due to this move and I expect him to be a solid FLEX option in 2025.
