In the ninth inning of Monday’s game vs. the Orioles, OF George Springer was hit in the head by a fastball. Luckily, he was able to walk off the field after with the help of Toronto’s training staff.
It was certainly a scary-looking play for Springer, and hopefully, he did not sustain a major injury. Springer being able to walk off the field is a good sign, but the extent of the injury is still unknown.
Before this play, he struck out once and was walked once in three trips to the plate as the Blue Jays fell to the Orioles 11-4. These teams will match up again on Tuesday and it will likely be too soon for Springer to return after taking a pitch to the head. The Blue Jays are having an excellent year and will be hoping it’s not a long-term absence for Springer. The right fielder is batting .291 in 2025, the second-best mark of his career.
