Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks suffered a fractured collarbone during today’s practice. Burks suffered the injury on a diving catch and is expected to miss the start of the season.
We’ll provide updates here as they become available.
Potential injury impact
Injuries have been an all-too-familiar problem for Treylon Burks. The Arkansas product suited up for just 11 games in both his first and second seasons before being limited to only five games last year with an ACL tear ending his season.
The 25-year-old was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Injuries have been the primary reason for him not yet living up to his potential. He had his best statistical season as a rookie, tallying 33 receptions for 444 yards and a touchdown. Over his full career though, he has tallied just 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown across the 27 games he has played.
There is a renewed sense of optimism in Tennessee following the addition of first-overall pick Cam Ward. Losing out on valuable reps with the hopeful franchise quarterback is a tough break for Burks, and his status is worth monitoring moving forward. Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett were already ahead of Burks in the offensive pecking order, and this could create a larger role for Elic Ayomanor, Van Jefferson, Chimere Dike, and tight end Chig Okonkwo.
Most accounts from reporters on the ground said that Burks showed up to training camp in tremendous shape and had a pathway to some form of production in this Titans offense. The talent level he possesses makes him impossible to fully give up on, but he is likely only in consideration from a fantasy football perspective in the late rounds of deeper leagues. Hopefully, this injury does not keep him off the field too deep into the season and he can begin to get his career on the right trajectory once his body allows.
