MLB Picks Today: Top Player Props and Team Bets for Friday, July 25, 2025
Miles Mikolas over 2.5 earned runs allowed (-105) vs. San Diego Padres
The Cardinals are likely counting down the days until the offseason, when Miles Mikolas’ contract finally comes off the books. It’s been a brutal season for the veteran right-hander, who owns a 5.20 ERA, 4.94 xERA, and 4.72 FIP. After a shaky start, things unraveled completely in June. Since then, Mikolas has posted a 6.91 ERA across eight starts, surrendering 32 earned runs on 50 hits, along with a .390 wOBA and a 6.29 FIP. He’s allowed 3 or more earned runs in nine of 19 starts this season, including four of his last five outings. With the Over 2.5 earned runs hovering near even money, this is one of my favorite MLB player props for Friday night.
Kyle Schwarber over 1.5 total bases (+105) vs. New York Yankees
Kyle Schwarber is on an incredible run at the plate. In 17 games this month, he’s gone over 1.5 total bases in 11 of them, including three of his last five. He has a great opportunity to hit that mark again tonight against Yankees starter Will Warren. While Warren has handled right-handed hitters reasonably well, his splits against lefties are much shakier. Left-handed batters have tagged him for a .372 wOBA, a 5.38 FIP, and nine of the 11 home runs he’s allowed this season. With the way Schwarber is swinging the bat right now, it’s hard to pass on this prop—especially at +105.
Tampa Bay Rays team total over 4.5 runs (-125) vs. Cincinnati Reds
Nick Martinez has been struggling for the Reds lately. He opened the month by allowing 14 runs on 16 hits over 11.2 innings against the Red Sox and Marlins. While he seemed to bounce back against the Rockies (though that comes with an asterisk), his most recent start versus the Mets told a mixed story. He gave up just two earned runs, but the underlying metrics suggest it could’ve been worse.
Now Martinez faces a Rays lineup that excels against the cutter and four-seam fastball—two of his primary pitches. His four-seamer, in particular, has been a liability, with opposing hitters posting a .407 wOBA against it. Once Martinez exits, he’ll hand things over to a Reds bullpen that’s been consistently putting runners on base and struggling to shut the door.
