MLB Best Bets: Top MLB predictions and picks for Sunday 7/20/25

Back after an extended vacation for some Sunday baseball as we witness Scottie Scheffler’s greatness! I already have previews/predictions up for the Cubs vs. Red Sox, Mariners vs. Astros, and Dodgers vs. Brewers games. Having said that, based on my preliminary research, here are my three favorite baseball bets today surrounding my game predictions and previews.

Cubs vs. Red Sox u6.5 total runs (-105)

Wrigley’s wind drifts in, neutralizing homers. Garrett Crochet’s 2.23 ERA and 11.1 K/9 on the road command respect. His 48.6 percent grounders turn potential fly balls into cheap outs. Chicago’s bats sit idle at .245 at home against lefties, and Cade Hortons 0.81 HR/9 invites risk in this cavernous wind canyon. Both bullpens rank among baseball’s best, but neither can outduel Crochet’s efficiency. Boston’s offense, led by Ceddanne Rafaela’s .405 average over his last ten, flashes urgency but rarely erupts under pitching duels. The season series underscores the trend: under in four of the last five matchups, including three of Wrigley’s previous four day games. When two elite starters lock horns and the park suppresses run carry, totals shrink. I ride under 6.5 knowing every swing will carry more weight, and this battle will hinge on a razor’s edge of contact.

Mariners (-145) vs. Astros

Turning west to T-Mobile Park, I hammer the Mariners moneyline without hesitation. Seattle arrives firing on all cylinders, riding five straight wins and inching within three games of Houston’s division lead. Bryan Woo’s 2.75 ERA and 8.6 K/9 at home flourish under Seattle’s marine layer. His elevated fastball shuts down elevated offensive threats, evidenced by opponents’ .082 slugging against it. Hunter Brown’s 2.43 ERA dazzles, but Seattle’s lineup, led by Cal Raleigh’s 38 homers, adapts swiftly to elite pitching. Raleigh’s .621 slugging and Julio Rodríguez’s dynamic bat unleash against any arm. The Mariners have thrived under Woo, going 5–6 as favorites yet outperforming early-season expectations. Meanwhile, Houston’s bats have scuffled to a .175 clip over three outings, their timing disrupted by elite arms. Home-field energy and offensive depth tilt this duel in favor of the hosts. I back Seattle to extend momentum and claim victory.

Dodgers -1.5 (+125) vs. Brewers

I’m backing the Dodgers at -1.5 (+120) on the run line. Clayton Kershaw’s 2.95 ERA over his last seven starts anchors this play. His 1.24 WHIP and limiting six homers all year proves his dominance. Facing Jose Quintana’s 85 Stuff+ and 4.80 xFIP, Dodgers bats will pounce. Quintana’s .273 BABIP and inflated LOB rate won’t hold under sustained pressure. Los Angeles boasts a 109 wRC+ against southpaws over the past 30 days. Will Smith’s 179 wRC+ and Ohtani’s .604 slugging percentage guarantee big inning potential. Mid-70s temperatures and 6–10 mph winds blowing out dead center further amplify firepower. Dodgers have covered -1.5 run lines in 60 percent of their last ten home games. Brewers’ bullpen ERA sits at 4.05, yielding multi-run frames too often. Milwaukee relief has a 28 percent inherited-run scoring rate, gifting extra Dodgers runs. Historical head-to-head trends show four of the last seven games surpassing two-run Dodgers victories. Odds movement from -1.5 (+135) to +120 reveals sharp money targeting that exact margin.
