The NFL season is quickly approaching and fantasy drafts are starting. At DraftKings, you can play an array of different season-long fantasy contests.
This is a look at the top five rookie quarterbacks to target in 2025 dynasty drafts.
1) Cam Ward- Tennessee Titans
Cam Ward was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and is the top rookie quarterback to target in 2025 dynasty fantasy drafts. Ward might be the only quarterback that starts in Week 1, compared to last year, when there were rookie starting quarterbacks all over the league. The Titans still don’t have a great roster, which could limit Ward’s potential to an extent. However, Ward is capable of succeeding right away. He isn’t as highly touted as some prospects from last season, but his ceiling is incredibly high. He was a superstar at Miami last season and put up massive numbers throughout his college career. If things click for Ward right away, he could be an above-average quarterback from the jump.
2) Jaxson Dart- New York Giants
Jaxson Dart was the second quarterback taken in the draft, and while he is unlikely to start in Week 1, he has a lot of potential. Russell Wilson was brought in to be the starter in New York, but if its season is going poorly, it could turn to Dart at some point. Even if Wilson lasts the whole year as the starter in New York, he is only on a one-year contract. The plan is for Dart to learn behind a veteran in his rookie season and then take over as the main man in New York in 2026 if he is progressing correctly. This could set up Dart being a sought-after quarterback in fantasy circles next summer. In dynasty leagues, it could be worth stashing Dart for the future.
3) Jalen Milroe- Seattle Seahawks
Jalen Milroe is going to start the year backing up Sam Darnold in Seattle. However, he is a player with a high ceiling who is worth taking a chance on. There are some rookie quarterbacks starting the year as backups who are likely to always be backups in the NFL. While Milroe has a lot of question marks around how his game will translate to the NFL, if things click, he has the chance to be a starting quarterback. He is an incredible athlete and made special plays at the college level. However, there are concerns about whether his mobility will translate to the NFL or if his style will lead to sacks and turnovers. If there is a quarterback to take a risk on from this rookie class, though, it is Milroe.
4) Shedeur Sanders- Cleveland Browns
Shedeur Sanders is another player with a high ceiling but a lot of risk. In college, he put up big numbers, but he had great receivers and was in a system set up for him to put up huge stats. For the same reasons that NFL teams allowed him to fall so dramatically in the draft, he is a risk to fantasy players as well. Sanders could turn the ball over frequently and take way too many sacks with the way he plays in the NFL. He doesn’t have elite arm strength and isn’t a great athlete. However, he does have the potential to start in Cleveland this season. Joe Flacco will likely start the season, but if the Browns are tanking, they could turn to Sanders to see if they have something in the rookie. Purely on his opportunity to start games this year, it could be worth taking a shot at Sanders.
5) Tyler Shough- New Orleans Saints
Outside of Cam Ward, Tyler Shough is the only other rookie quarterback with a real chance to start in Week 1 this season. However, due to the rough state of the Saints’ roster, it’s hard to waste a draft pick on Shough, regardless of the opportunity to start. Shough is competing with other young quarterbacks, Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener, for the job, but he is expected to win the camp battle. If Shough will be starting in Week 1, that makes him more valuable than any quarterback besides Ward for season-long fantasy. However, in dynasty leagues, it doesn’t seem worth the squeeze due to the Saints’ roster. Last season, their offense was a total disaster, and they did nothing to meaningfully improve it. Even if Shough starts, he should struggle and not provide much value to a fantasy team.
