Scottie Scheffler did what Scottie Scheffler does on Friday at The Open Championship, shooting a 64 to take the outright lead heading into the weekend. As you can imagine, he is now an enormous favorite to win at -190 odds. He is trailed closely, however, as England’s Matt Fitzpatrick is just a shot behind and has the second-best odds to win at +500.
Now it’s time to regroup after the second round and take a look at what DraftKings Sportsbook has to offer with two rounds in this tournament remaining.
Bryson DeChambeau Top 20 Including Ties (+230)
After Thursday’s opening round of 78, it looked like DeChambeau was almost certain to miss the cut and head back to the United States. However, he showed up on Friday morning and shot a round 13 strokes better than the day before with a score of 65. Bryson needed an all-time round at The Open to make it to the weekend, and he did so right on the cut number at +1.
Now, he has a chance to continue climbing the leaderboard the rest of the week, and I think he will do just that. While he is in a tie for 51st place, the leaderboard is very condensed. Bryson is only three shots behind the group of golfers in a tie for 17th place at -2. With another good round on Saturday, he should be in a position to claim a top 20 finish on Sunday. While I wouldn’t expect another round of 65 on the weekend, he has shown he can do it.
Has he finally cracked the code of links golf? We shall see. But his round of 65 on Friday is miles better than his first two rounds at this course in 2019 (74, 73) and his opening round in 2025 of 78 on Thursday. He has now shown that he can produce on this course, and he’ll have two more days to continue to do it.
At +230 odds and only three shots between him and where he needs to be, I am backing the two-time U.S. Open Champion to climb the leaderboard this weekend at Royal Portrush.
