The final major of 2025 has arrived, as the best players in the world will head to Northern Ireland for the 2025 Open Championship.
Bryson DeChambeau will be chasing his first top five finish at the Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
DraftKings Sportsbook has plenty of betting options for the LIV golfer this week, and below is my favorite bet for DeChambeau at The Open Championship.
Bryson DeChambeau to Miss the Cut (+230)
Bryson DeChambeau has a terrible record at Open Championships. In seven career appearances, he has missed three cuts with his best finish being T8 in 2022 at St Andrews. At this event in 2019 at Royal Portrush, he finished +5 and missed the +1 cutline by four strokes.
Bryson has been playing well in general this season, winning LIV Golf Korea and recording two top five finishes in the first three majors. He is coming off a missed cut at the U.S. Open, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he missed another one this week in Northern Ireland.
DeChambeau leads the LIV golf tour in driving distance, and he ranks second in scrambling this year. It’s been the irons that have held him back, as his 68.52% of greens hit on LIV is ranked ninth best.
DeChambeau has never thrived in a links golf environment, and had this to say on Tuesday about his record at this championship.
“The times I’ve been over here, for some reason my golf swing hasn’t been where it needs to be and right now it feels as good as it’s ever been.”
Let’s see if DeChambeau can build on the momentum of 2022, but until proven otherwise, I will be fading him when it comes to links golf. He went to Royal Troon in 2024 off the back of a U.S. Open win and did not make the cut. No matter how well Bryson seems to be playing, the Open Championship has proven to be his Achilles’ heel so far in his career.
At +230 odds to miss the cut, this feels like great value for him to miss out on the weekend at The Open for the fourth time in eight years.
