The Mid-Summer Classic is here as the best players from the American League will take on the best from the National League. The All-Star Game concludes MLB All-Star weekend with a handful of events leading up to the big game.

This year’s contest features some veteran superstars as well as youthful faces making their first appearances in the All-Star Game.

Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes will start on the mound for their respective team. Skubal, the reigning AL Cy Young and Triple Crown winner, is having yet another phenomenal season. He leads the majors with an 11.4 strikeouts per nine and 1.2 walks per nine. The 28-year-old has a 2.23 ERA through 121 innings pitched.

Skenes will start his second straight All-Star game in just his second professional season. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick debuted last year and immediately starred for the Pirates. He won Rookie of the Year and finished third in Cy Young voting. He hasn’t cooled off in his sophomore campaign, leading the majors with a 2.01 ERA through 121 innings.

The National League is slightly favored in this year’s All-Star Game. It is -112 on the moneyline, while the American League is -108 on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Skenes and Skubal will likely pitch an inning or two as most All-Star starters do. There are a handful of pitchers that will get time on the mound as the All-Star game attempts to field as many players as possible from both sides.

The over/under for the Mid-Summer Classic is set at seven runs.
