The 2025 MLB Home Run Derby is all about freshness, as seven of the eight participants will be mashing balls for the first time in the event. Matt Olson is the only veteran, but that was way back in 2021.

Cal Raleigh is the favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +295. On the season, Raleigh has hit 38 home runs, most in the major leagues, and is sporting the second-highest ISO at .377.

Oneil Cruz has the second-lowest odds at +320. He has hit 16 home runs on the season with a .203 ISO. Both marks are the lowest in the field. He is the fastest, though, with a 29.3 ft/sec sprint speed. Unfortunately, this is not a track meet and no points are given for catching a hit ball. So why is Cruz one of the favorites? Because the 78.6 mph average bat speed and 96.4 mph average exit velocity are top in all of baseball. Cruz is -135 to record the highest exit velocity.

James Wood has the third-lowest odds at +475. The 24 home runs hit on the season is the second-most in the field while the .256 ISO is fourth-best. Wood is +320 to record the highest exit velocity.

Matt Olson hit 23 home runs in the first round of the 2021 Home Run Derby. During the 2021 regular season, Olson clubbed 39 home runs with a .269 ISO. The power has waned over the years, though. Last season, the ISO was .210. This season, the ISO is .209. Olson has hit 17 home runs in 415 plate appearances. DraftKings Sportsbook has Olson at +800 to win the Derby.

Brent Rooker is +850 to win the 2025 Derby. On the season, he has hit 20 home runs with a .228 ISO.

Byron Buxton is +950 to win the Derby. Buxton has hit 21 home runs this season with a .286 ISO, which is the second-highest in the field. Buxton has only racked up 329 plate appearances this season, though, because, well, he’s Byron Buxton. That said, he’s healthy right now and he doesn’t have to shag fly balls in the outfield.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is +1100 to win the Derby. He has hit 17 home runs this season but has only had 268 plate appearances. The ISO is .265, the third-highest in the field. That said, Truist Park is not as friendly as Yankee Stadium for left-handed batters. Yankee Stadium is third-best while Truist Park is 15th.

Junior Caminero is +1200 to win the Derby, the highest odds. Caminero is the youngest participant at 22 years old. He has hit 23 home runs on the season, the third-most in the field. The .249 ISO is fifth-best. Like Cruz, the bat speed is elite at 78 mph on average. Only Cruz is faster. The average exit velocity is fine at 91 mph, but nowhere near the top guys in the field.
