The Renaissance Club (par 70, 7,237 yards, fescue greens) in North Berwick, Scotland, is hosting the Genesis Scottish Open this week. There will be 156 golfers competing, with half from the PGA TOUR and half from the DP World TOUR, and a standard top-65 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
DraftKings Sportsbook has plenty of betting options for the world #1 this week, and below is my favorite bet for Scheffler at the Scottish Open.
Scottie Scheffler Group A Winner (+115)
This bet can be found under the “Tournament Groups” tab. To win, Scheffler just needs to finish higher on the leaderboard than Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Tommy Fleetwood and Collin Morikawa.
Is it a stacked group? Yes. However, he only has to beat out four other golfers at plus money. Even though they are some of the best players in the field, I would rather take him at +115 to beat four golfers than at +360 to beat 155 golfers.
The world #1 has an interesting history at this course. He skipped last year’s Scottish Open, and the year before that in 2023, he finished T3. In 2022 he did not make the cut, in 2021 he was T20 and in 2020 he finished T30.
Scheffler has only really been on top of his game since the breakout season in 2022, when he won his first four PGA TOUR events. That only gives us a two year window to judge his performance at this course, with one being a Top 5 finish and the other being a missed cut.
Despite the concerning missed cut in 2022, I am going to back him to have a good tournament. Scheffler is more consistent than ever right now, and it feels like every time he tee’s it up he finds himself in contention. He has finished inside the Top 10 in each of his nine previous starts.
