The second of two boxing cards in New York this weekend features a stacked card headlined by two elite fights: Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda for the WBC Lightweight title and Edgar Berlanga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz. This is the third Ring Magazine boxing card and the second one in New York. This event is taking place at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, on Saturday, July 12.
Stevenson will make his third defense of the WBC Lightweight title against Zepeda, who is 33-0 with 27 knockouts. Zepeda most recently beat Tevin Farmer in March. Stevenson is coming off a TKO victory over Josh Padley in February. That was Stevenson’s first win via TKO since 2023.
Even though Zepeda has an undefeated record, Stevenson is still a massive -1200 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Stevenson is one of the biggest stars in boxing, and at 28 years old, his game continues to evolve.
A fantastic super middleweight bout between Berlanga vs. Sheeraz is taking place on this card. Sheeraz’s last fight ended in a draw, while Berlanga bounced back with a big first-round TKO against Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in March. Before his last fight, Sheeraz won his previous 15 contests by stoppage.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Sheeraz is the favorite at -155 while Berlanga is a +125 underdog. If Sheeraz can rebound with a win after his draw, a big fight against Canelo Alvarez could be in his future.
Here is the full fight card, which will air live on DAZN PPV at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Main Event ring walks are expected to take place at 8:40 p.m. ET.
