The semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup have arrived, and the first one is set to take place on Tuesday between Chelsea and Fluminense. Both teams finished as runners-up in their respective groups and have done well to get to this stage of the competition. Chelsea beat Benfica and Palmeiras in the knockout rounds, while Fluminense have gotten past Inter Milan and Al Hilal.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Chelsea are favorites on the moneyline at -145 odds. Fluminense’s moneyline is set at +425, while a draw is available at +285. Below is my favorite bet for the contest.
Fluminense vs. Chelsea Prediction, Pick
There will be a familiar face on the other side of the pitch for Chelsea, as Thiago Silva will face off against his former club with a chance to get into Sunday’s final. Aside from that, it will be all business on Tuesday as this tournament has gotten to the stage where all four teams will believe that they can win it.
I think the Blues will have too much for the Brazilian side in this one and end the Cinderella story at the semi-final stage. Aside from a 3-1 loss to Flamengo in the group stage, Chelsea have won each of their other four matches. In fact, the English side has now won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions. They are fresh off a win against another Brazilian side Palmeiras, beating them 2-1 courtesy of an 83rd-minute own goal.
Now they will already have one eye on Sunday’s final, as this is a game that they should be winning. However, Fluminense are no pushovers, undefeated in this year’s Club World Cup having already played two European giants in Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. All good things must come to an end, however, as Chelsea should present the toughest challenge they’ve faced so far, both on the pitch and on the sideline. There is a reason why the Blues are such big favorites in this one, and I don’t see any reason to pick against them.
