DraftKings MLB Pick6 Fantasy Baseball Picks: Top Plays for Sunday 7/6/25

By: Sean Barnard

Fifteen games will be taking place across today’s MLB slate, meaning all 30 teams will be in action. It’s a busy day of baseball, with games taking place throughout the day and building up to more action at night than is sometimes the case. There are plenty of intriguing matchups and even more ways to get involved. One of the more unique ways to get in on the action, and one of the newest features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!

This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 7/6/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on tonight’s MLB slate.

Shohei Ohtani More Than 0.5 Home Runs

Shohei Ohtani has been going through a bit of a tough stretch, but there should be no doubt that he remains one of the most feared hitters in baseball. He has an excellent get-right spot today as the Dodgers face the Astros with right-handed pitcher Ryan Gusto on the mound. Gusto has pitched both as a starter and out of the bullpen. He enters with a 4.90 ERA and has allowed 10 home runs in 64.1 innings, including four home runs over his past three outings.

Ohtani is slashing .271/.403/.652 against right-handed pitchers this season. Twenty-four of his National League-best 30 home runs have come against right-handed pitchers, and he still has seven home runs across the past 28 days. Ohtani last hit a home run on July 1st and has tallied just two hits with a .143 batting average in the four games since that point. He has not faced Gusto in his career to this point, but Los Angeles does a nice job protecting him in the lineup to force Ohtani to see pitches to hit. Look for him to snap out of the brief cold spell and put one over the fence for the 31st time this season.

Eugenio Suarez More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In

Eugenio Suarez has also climbed into the conversation for one of the most feared power hitters in the MLB with his play. The Diamondbacks star has tallied as many as 49 home runs in a season and is up to 28 home runs with 73 RBIs tallied already on the year. Suarez enters having hit a home run in two of his past three games.

This is an excellent chance to add to his production with Michael Lorenzen on the mound for Kansas City. Lorenzen is a high-contact pitcher who has posted reverse splits and struggled against right-handed hitters this year. Ten of his 17 home runs have come to right-handed hitters, with them slugging .508 against him with a .354 wOBA. Suarez has faced Lorenzen eight times in his career with two hits, two RBIs and three walks. While a home run is certainly in play, I am going a bit safer and taking Suarez to drive in a run for the fourth straight game.

Vinnie Pasquantino More Than 1.5 Total Bases

On the other side of this matchup, Vinnie Pasquantino is in a good spot to continue his production on the year. The left-hander is off to a strong start to the season, slashing .268/.330/.426 with 10 doubles, 14 home runs and 55 RBIs. Pasquantino hit two home runs, six RBIs and nine total bases in the first game of the series.

Anthony DeSclafani will be on the mound for the Diamondbacks. This will be his first start of the season, but DeSclafani has struggled out of the bullpen. Across the four games he has played this year, the 35-year-old holds a 4.82 ERA with three home runs allowed across 9.1 innings pitched. He allowed 1.35 and 1.89 home runs per nine innings in 2022 and 2023, with a worse ERA in both seasons than he is posting this year. DeSclafani has especially struggled against left-handed hitters, and this is a great spot for Pasquantino to capitalize from his cleanup spot in the lineup.

While a home run could be in play here as well, I am backing Pasquantino to tally more than 1.5 total bases. He has reached this total in five of his past 10 games while facing some much tougher pitching. Arizona’s bullpen has also struggled in a major way, holding the third-worst ERA in the MLB, so don’t panic if DeSclafani gets chased from the game early.

Christian Walker More Than 0.5 Home Runs

While Dodger Stadium is generally not considered one of the more hitter-friendly ballparks, Christian Walker has absolutely raked in the stadium. In the 44 career games he has played there, Walker is posting a career 1.203 OPS with 24 extra-base hits. He has tallied eight total bases across the opening two games of this series, including a home run in the series opener.

Emmet Sheehan will be getting the start for the Dodgers, with this set to be just his second start of the season after missing all of last year. He went 4.0 innings in his first start, allowing three hits and one earned run, but he posted a 44.4% hard-hit rate. During his last MLB stint in 2023, Sheehan posted 1.64 home runs per nine innings with 11 home runs allowed across 11 starts and 13 appearances. The Dodgers’ bullpen has also struggled of late, and they hold the seventh-highest bullpen ERA on the season overall while giving up a league-worst 50 home runs out of the bullpen.

Walker is posting a .843 OPS in the past month against righties, and all 11 home runs have come against right-handed pitching. Look for Walker to build off his strong stretch and continue capitalizing in the ballpark in which he has had success. Look for him to tally more than 0.5 home runs for the second time in this series, with this being a much more friendly matchup than you would expect.

Pete Crow-Armstrong More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In

Pete Crow-Armstrong continues to climb the totem pole of best players in the MLB by vastly outperforming expectations. He leads the National League with a 5.0 WAR and is slashing .270/.308/.552. He has been especially hot of late, hitting .333 with two home runs over the last week, pushing his total to 23 home runs on the season.

Crow-Armstrong has been especially effective against right-handed pitching. He is hitting .307 with a .971 OPS and 18 home runs tallied against righties this season. Erick Fedde will be on the mound for the Cardinals today. This will mark his 18th start of the season, and the 32-year-old enters with a 4.56 ERA with 10 home runs allowed. Three of these home runs came against the Cubs in a start last month. Crow-Armstrong has faced him just four times in his career, with one hit to this point.

Fedde is coming off back-to-back starts in which he has allowed seven earned runs in each. This is a spot where the Cubs have a chance to pile it on early and count on Crow-Armstrong being a part of this effort. Chicago has made life easy, putting itself in position for Crow-Armstrong to capitalize on. He has 66 RBIs on the year and has driven home four runs across his past four games. Look for him to capitalize on this matchup and add to his RBI total today in this favorable matchup.

Jacob Lopez More Than 4.5 Strikeouts

In the final game of the day’s slate, Jacob Lopez will get the start as the Athletics face the San Francisco Giants. This will be Lopez’s 13th appearance and ninth start today. He enters with a 3.88 ERA and 56 strikeouts across his first 46.1 innings pitched. The 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings he is posting is a career-high, and this is a favorable matchup against San Francisco.

The Giants’ offense has ranked in the bottom-five in OPS and wOBA against left-handers since the start of May, and they are posting the fifth-highest strikeout rate across this time. They are striking out an average of 8.46 times per game, which is the 11th-worst rate in the league. Willy Adames leads the pack with 99 strikeouts already on the season, while Rafael Devers, Heliot Ramos and Patrick Bailey are each also averaging over a strikeout per game.

Lopez is looking to bounce back from a poor outing in which he was chased in 3.1 innings against the Rays after giving up three earned runs. However, he had tallied more than 4.5 strikeouts in five straight appearances before that and five of his eight starts overall. Look for Lopez to get back on track against the strikeout-heavy Giants lineup and tally more than 4.5 strikeouts tonight.
